CHICO’S BROOKLYN RESCUE
My name is Chico Junior, and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico, Sr.  One chilly day in the garden we we're all huddled together trying to keep warm, when I overheard some kids talking about what a great time they were going to have playing in the snow.  This sounded so exciting to me.  I was wondering if I would be able to play with them.   Just then, the Rescuer came to the garden to feed us lunch.  She talked about a snowstorm coming, and said that she would be busy preparing for the storm, and would check on us later.  Mommy was glad when she saw Daddy coming up from the basement.  She told Chico what the Rescuer said.  Chico said that he knew all about the storm, and was busy with the super and the porter getting the building ready.  Chico said that we were all to stay close, and that everything would be fine, because we are fortunate enough to be able to go down to the basement.  I asked Daddy if I could play in the snow.  He said yes Junior, when it is safe, I will let you play in the snow.

The wind started picking up, and Daddy said it was time for us to go down the ladder to the basement.  As we were about to go down, Joel came walking into the garden.  He said there was a cat crouched in between the buildings around the corner. She would not be safe there from the storm.  Daddy told Mommy that he had to go get this poor cat, and bring her back here with us.  This is what we do, help others in need. Tommy volunteered to go. Mommy told Daddy to be careful, and with that Tommy, Chico and Joel started up the block.  The snow started coming down heavier.  By the time they reached the kitty, she was whimpering and covered in snow.  Daddy went over to her, and said we are here to help you.  She looked up, and said my name is Maggie.

I am lost, and cannot find my home.  Daddy said, “don’t worry, you have a collar on with a tag.  Please come with us, and you will be warm and safe.”  By this time, the wind was whipping up and the snow was blowing in their faces.  Chico thanked Joel, and told him to get home safe.  It was a tough fight getting down the block, but Daddy, Maggie and Tommy pushed on.  They made it to the window just in time as it was filling up with snow.  They went through the window, and down the ladder to be greeted by Mommy, Aunt Anna and the rest.  Mommy showed them to the food, and water that the Rescuer left for us.  We all ate wholeheartedly, then we all laid down and went to sleep with me cuddling up to Mommy.  Hours past, and then we were awakened by the elevator door opening, and the rescuer walking out.  She was smiling when she saw us all safe, and resting comfortably.  The rescuer noticed Maggie, and bent down to her. Realizing that Maggie was friendly, she started petting her.  Chico told Maggie not to worry this, and that this lady would help her find her home.  The rescuer looked at Maggie's collar, and picked her up.  We said goodbye to Maggie, and the rescuer said, “thank you,” looking at Daddy and then left with Maggie disappearing into the elevator. Just then we heard shoveling up in the garden.  The porter was making a path for us to walk around.

Daddy led us up the ladder into the garden.  Everything looked beautiful with the sun shining down on the snow.  The kids were already out, and looking in the garden to play with me.  Daddy, and Mommy nodded okay and sent Aunt Anna out to watch me.  I was so happy.  I will be back next month with another story.

                                                 CHICO’S BROOKYN RESCUE
My name is Chico Junior, and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico.
One chilly day, we were in the garden trying to catch some sun.  Tommy was playing hide, and seek with me when I noticed Mommy and Aunt Anna talking to each other, looking very serious.  Just then, Chico came into the garden returning early from his morning chores.  Mommy told Chico that she, and Aunt Anna heard a kitten crying.  Chico said he did not hear anything however, he knew that Mommy was tuned in to hearing babies cry.  Aunt Anna said, “I hear it again.”  Mommy, and Aunt Anna went out of the garden onto the sidewalk.  After a few seconds, they knew that the crying was coming directly from across the street, and told Daddy.  Chico said, “I believe the both of you, however, there are not supposed to be any cats living there anymore, especially babies.  Chico suggested that Tommy go with him to check it out.  Mommy, as always, told Daddy to be careful crossing the street.  When they stepped onto the curb, Chico thought he heard a faint cry.  Tommy reminded Daddy that they cannot go through to the back yard from here anymore, because of the mean Landlord.  Chico stood there quiet for a moment, and then said to Tommy, “we have to find a way in.” They started walking up the block some until Chico noticed a gate that was not chained together properly, and pointed it out to Tommy.  Chico said, “this is our way in.”  Once in the back yard, they started walking down to where the sounds came from.  Tommy told Daddy that he saw a cat in the distance.  When they came closer, Daddy knew that the cat was scared.  Daddy said, “do not be afraid, we are here to help you.”  The cat said, “my name is Ruby and I am in trouble.  I was looking for a place to have my babies when somehow, I became locked back here. Some nice person noticed me, and started throwing food out the window a few times a day. Things seemed okay, but now one of my kittens is crying all the time.” Daddy said, do not worry we will be back with help.”  With that Daddy, and Tommy made their way back to the garden.  Daddy told Mommy Ruby's story. Mommy said that could mean that one of her babies is sick, and she needs help immediately.  Just then, as luck would have it, the Rescuer came by with our lunch. She was putting out our food, and water when she noticed us all huddled together. The Rescuer asked, “is everything is okay?”  Chico walked out of the garden, and began staring across the street.  The Rescuer went to her car, and took out her carrier.  Chico, and Tommy started crossing the street and the rescuer followed them.  When Daddy, and Chico stopped short at the gate with the chain, the Rescuer looked at it and began unraveling the chain until it was undone.  Then Chico, and Tommy anxious to get back to the cat picked up speed with the Rescuer running behind them.  Ruby saw them approaching, and was ready with her three babies.  Chico began talking to Ruby telling her that this nice lady will take care of you, and your babies.  Ruby was friendly, and let the rescuer pet her.  Then the kittens, and Ruby were placed in the carrier and off they all went.  The Rescuer told Daddy, and Chico that she was going to the veterinarian, and that she would stop by the garden later.  Tommy, and Chico went back to the garden to tell Mommy, Aunt Anna and the others what had happened.

We anxiously waited for the rescuer to return.  Soon she appeared out of nowhere smiling, and announced to us that one of the kittens didn't feel well, and now thanks to you guys, they will all be fine and with that she left.  I asked Daddy what would happen to Ruby, and the babies.  Chico said, “they will all be found forever homes.  This made us all very happy.

I will be back next month with another story.

CHICO’S BROOKLYN RESCUE

One chilly day in the garden, many of us were sitting in the sun waiting for our lunch.  I was having a great time playing tag with Tommy, when Aunt Anna came walking into the garden.  She was telling us that there were work crews putting up lights everywhere.  Mommy said, “this is the time of year that everything becomes beautiful, and bright because we are approaching the Holidays.”  She also said, “this could be a time of Miracles.”  This sounded so exciting to me.  Just then, daddy came up from the basement, and said that he overheard our conversation and happened to be on his way out to the street to meet up with the superintendent, and the work crew putting up the lights outside the building.  With that, he walked out into the street from the garden.  Daddy came back sometime later.  He said that he wanted to make sure that the work was being done safely.  For instance, that there were not any live wires being dropped about.  Daddy said, “the lights are beautiful however, nobody realizes how dangerous they can also be.  Everything has to be done safely, that's the most important thing.”  Just then, Joel and Stewart came walking into the garden.  They asked daddy if he had heard the news about the missing kitty.  Chico said, “no, I've been so busy in the building and did not hear anything.”  The guys told us that Susie, one of the baby kittens born to Hank and Emma, the cats that live in the laundry store on the Avenue, was missing.  Mommy was astonished, and asked how could this happen, because we never let the babies out of our sight.  Chico said, “there's a lot of commotion this time of the year on the Avenue, so it is possible that nobody heard or saw the kitten walk off.  Chico was interrupted by the Rescuer coming by with lunch.  She noticed Joel, and Stewart and probably thought that they too, knew about Suzie.  The Rescuer told us that she was leaving plenty of food, and water because she was going to look for the missing kitten, and did not know when she could return.  With that said, she was quickly gone.  Jeffrey came rushing into the garden to tell Chico that he was here to help.  Tommy asked how Jeffrey was even able to hear about this, as far away as the park?  Jeffrey said, “there are signs up everywhere.”  Chico gave everybody their assignments, and then Chico, Aunt Anna, Tommy, Joel, Stewart and Jeffrey left the garden to begin their search.  Everyone had something to do.  Even Mommy, and I were going to watch from the outside Garden, where we could see better on to the Street. Sometime later, I pointed out to Mommy that something was moving in the grass.  She ran over to check it out.  It was a false alarm.  It was Gomez, my friend the mouse, running about. I thought maybe he was looking for the kitten too.  Meanwhile, on the Avenue every nook and cranny was being searched, because Chico said a baby kitten could fit in anywhere.  Some hours past, and it was almost getting dark.  Chico thought that Emma, the mommy, must be frantic by now when suddenly, all those lights that were being put up during the day went on. It was so much brighter, and helpful because it lit up all the dark areas.  Chico, and Tommy were passing the liquor store on the Avenue when Chico called out that he heard a strange sound.  Tommy said that it was coming from behind the gate.  Sure enough, it was the kitten. Aunt Anna noticed the guys crouching in front of the store, and came running over.  She said the kitten was trembling, but otherwise looked okay.  Aunt Anna also said that she did not want to carry the kitten across the street to the laundry, because it was too dangerous to do so.  By this time, a crowd had gathered around them because the kitten was starting to cry out loud.  This was noticed by the Rescuer, who came rushing over to them.  She looked down, and saw the kitten.  She bent down, and carefully scooped the kitten up and said thank you with happy tears.  She said that she would return Susie to her mommy, and daddy.
Sometime later, we all met back at the Garden.  Chico gave us the good news.  Mommy, and the rest of us were so relieved to hear this.  Chico turned to all of us and said, “this is the time of year to give thanks for all we have, and to always help our friends and the less fortunate, not just on the holidays, but every day.”  Daddy also said we should all eat, and drink and celebrate a wonderful day.  I looked up to see all the beautiful lights sparkling all around us, and thought that Suzie being back home with her mommy, and daddy was the holiday miracle.

CHICO'S STORY NOVEMBER 2021

CHICO’S BROOKLYN RESCUE

My name is Chico Jr., and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico, Sr.

One fall day, I was in the garden having a great time playing with the falling
leaves from the trees, when a big cat came walking into the garden.  The cat saw
Mommy, and aunt Anna sitting alert as he walked in.  He said, “my name is
Jonathan, and I am a friend of Chico and need to speak with him.”  Mommy told
him that Chico was in the backyard doing some work with the Porter.  Just then,
Tommy came up from the basement, and overheard the conversation.  He told
Jonathan that he would take him to the backyard to find Chico.  Chico noticed
Tommy, and Jonathan walking towards him.  Jonathan said to Chico, “I know you
are busy, but I have something important to talk to you about.”  Chico said, “I am
never too busy for my friends.”  Jonathan said, “I was crossing over the train
station to go to the other side of the street, when I noticed some cats sitting on top
of the roof of a store, and they seemed to be in distress.” Chico said, “those cats live on that roof, and are being well fed.  However, if you are concerned that something is wrong, we should go talk to them.”  So, Tommy, Chico and Jonathan walked along the backyard all the way to where the stores are.  Daddy looked up, and saw Marty staring down at him.  Daddy said, “is everything okay up there?” Marty said, “to tell you the truth I am worried. There are workmen starting a big job up here with some heavy equipment. My worry is, that they might not know to be careful and watch out for us.”  Chico said, “we have to go for help. I know this is your home and you do not want to leave.”  With that, the three of them turned and left going home taking the same route back to the garden.  When they were back, Chico told Mommy and the others what was going on.  Mommy looked concerned, and said, “I hope there are no babies up there now.”  The Rescuer came buy with our lunch.  She put all the food out, as well as freshwater.  Then she looked up, and noticed Jonathan.  She asked if everything was okay.  Chico came out from the garden, and started walking towards the Avenue.  The rescuer, Tommy and Jonathan followed him. Chico led her up the stairs of the elevated
train station, where they could see over onto the roof where the cats were.  Marty
noticed Daddy, and the others looking down at him from the train station, and
looked relieved knowing that Chico went to the Rescuer for help.  Later, back at
the Garden, the Rescuer came by.  She told us that she spoke to the workers, and
the store owners about the cats, and they assured her that they understood and that
they would be very careful.  Chico turned to us, and thanked Jonathan.  Then he
said, “the right thing to do is when you see something, say something.”  We all agreed.

CHICO’S BROOKLYN RESCUE
My name is Chico Junior and I want to tell you a story about my daddy Chico, Sr.
One day, we were enjoying sitting in the garden.  I was having a good time playing with my blue ball that one of the children in the building gave me.  Daddy was busy with the gardener by the outside garden area.  Daddy wanted to make sure that the grass wasn't cut too short, because it was somewhat of a camouflage for our safety. Daddy wanted it cut just so.  That is why the Gardner came calling for Daddy, when he came monthly to do his work.  Daddy came back into the garden, and was drinking some water, when Joey came walking into the garden.  He told Chico that the shoemaker's cat Albert was missing.  Daddy thought for a second, and then asked “isn't he in School?”  Joey said he went to school in the morning with the children, but never came home for lunch.  Daddy looked up at Mommy, and told her that he was going to look into this.  Mommy looked worried.  As always, Tommy volunteered to go with Chico.  Joey, Daddy and Tommy went walking towards the school.  Everyone in the neighborhood knew about Albert going to school.  It was sort of the Talk of the Town. He was in the sixth-grade class with the teacher, Mrs. Jones.  He had his own desk, and everything.  When Daddy, Joey and Tommy pulled up on the corner to cross to the school, the crossing guard gave them the right of way and, they crossed the street to the school.  All the children came out after the bell rang, and still there was no Albert. Chico said, “let's split up.”  Daddy told Joey to check the back entrance of the school, and the school yard.  Tommy was to check the small houses on the right side of the street, and Chico went to check the houses on the left side of the small Street crossing. As Daddy was looking around, he heard some faint sounds.  He called out Albert's name, and then he heard a meow.  Chico went a little way to an alley, and saw the little guy standing behind a gate.  Daddy said, “I am here to help you, tell me what happened.”  Albert said, “when I was leaving school I was distracted by a strange squeaking noise across the way, so I went to check it out. I was told I had very good hearing. When I walked through the gate looking around, somehow I backed into it and closed myself in.  Then I realized it was a gate that made the noise.  I tried to climb out, but it was too high.”  Chico looked up, and knew that he couldn't climb the gate either.  By then, Tommy and Joey were looking for Chico and saw him from the distance.  They crossed over, and Chico told them what was going on with Albert.  Then daddy decided that the best way to free Albert was to dig a hole under the gate.  So, Albert, daddy, Tommy and Joey started digging.  In a short while, the whole was deep enough for Albert to climb under.  Albert was so happy that he started rubbing against Daddy.  The Rescuer was looking around the school, and saw them across the street.  She then came over with her carrier.  She told us that there where many people out there looking for Albert.  The rescuer looked down, and saw the hole under the gate and realized what had happened.  She was happy to see Albert safe, and sound.  Chico told Albert to go with this nice lady because she will bring you home.  Daddy said to Albert, “I know kitties are curious however, what you did was very dangerous.”  Albert understood by shaking his head, and said he would not do anything like that again.  The Rescuer put him in the carrier, said Thank you to us and started walking away with Albert.  She told us to cross the street with her, since the crossing guard was long gone.  When we reached the Avenue, Joey said he was going home.  Chico told Joey that he did the right thing coming to him for help, and that he was always welcome to come by the garden.  We were all excited to see Daddy, and Tommy walking through into the garden.  When Chico told us everything was all right, you could see Mommy give a sigh of relief.  Daddy said, “Albert walked away on his own, and got into trouble.  When possible, we should stay together. It is safer that way.”  He looked at me, and I understood.  I will be back next month with another story.

My name is Chico Junior and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico, Sr.
On a hot summer day, most of us were hanging out in the Garden relaxing, and being cooled by the water dripping down from the air conditioning units in the apartment building.  It has been so noisy at night between the firecrackers, and the fireworks, that we are doing most of our sleeping and resting during the day.  Chico came up from the basement, and announced that he had some chores to do in the building.  He said that he needed to check in with the painter on the 4th floor, and with the plumber who was doing repairs on the sixth floor.  So, with that Daddy left the garden, and went into the building.  When Daddy was on the 6th floor with the plumbers, he overheard a conversation from the tenants coming home from the beach. They talked about a dog that they saw running around alone.  When Chico returned to the Garden, he told us what he heard from the tenants in the building.  Daddy also said that this was a hard time of year for all the animals, especially the dogs, because they are more frightened than we are from all the noise.  We must go, and find this poor dog.  Tommy, as usual, volunteered to go with Daddy.  Mommy told Chico that he must be careful in his travels.  Tommy, and Chico shook their heads and with that they left on their Journey.  It was late in the afternoon so as they walked towards the boardwalk to the beach.  People were leaving the beach, and the boardwalk to go home for dinner.  Daddy acknowledged this, and said “we are going at a good time to find the dog because the dog would be less frightened without so many people around.”  They were almost at the beach when Tommy spotted their friend Joel standing on the corner.  Chico said, “I'm glad that you are here.  Would you come, and help us find a dog on the loose.”  Of course, Joel agreed to help.  “This way,” Chico said, “one of us could look under the Boardwalk, on the Boardwalk and the beach at the same time.”  Chico walked the boardwalk, and Joel went under it, while Tommy searched along the beach.  Daddy was getting nervous because the time was passing, and perhaps the firecrackers would start up and the poor dog will crawl somewhere to hide where he could not be found.  Then all of a sudden, Tommy came running toward the boardwalk, and alerted Chico and Joel that he had spotted the dog.  Chico climbed down the stairs to the beach, and Joel appeared from under the boardwalk. Chico, and Joel followed Tommy towards the ocean, and there was the dog sitting by the rocks.  Chico walked over to the dog, and told him not to be afraid, we have been looking for you in case you needed help.  The dog said, “my name is Lucky.  I was being walked with my family when a loud bang happened with the firecrackers.  I started pulling, and broke loose from my harness and leash. I ran, and I ran and realized I was lost. I do not know how to find my home.  Can you help me?”  Chico told the dog not to worry, and said “you are wearing a collar, and it looks like you have some kind of tags on it.”  Daddy told the dog to follow him, and the boys and that they would take him to safety.  Chico walked side by side with Lucky.  Tommy was in the front, and Joel behind them.  It took a while, but they finally arrived back at the garden.  Mommy was relieved to see them.  On hot days especially, there was plenty of water around for us to drink.  Chico showed Lucky to the water, and he drank wholeheartedly.  Joel said he had to leave, and Daddy thanked him and said he would see him soon.  Just then, the Rescuer came to the garden.  She smiled when she saw Lucky with us.  “Well, what do we have here” she said.  The Rescuer looked at the collar, and noticed his tags.  She told us that she was going to take Lucky upstairs to her apartment to feed him, and try to locate his family.  She picked Lucky up, and he looked at us lovingly as he was carried away.  Sometime later, the Rescuer came back to the Garden.  She said that she had good news.  Lucky did have his name, and phone number on one of his tags, and his family just picked him up to take him home. The Rescuer left us our dinner, and thanked us for taking care of the sweet dog and left.  Daddy said to us that it is so important for people to have proper ID on their dog, and cat collars just in case they get lost.  Daddy is always so wise.  I will be back next month with another story.

My name is Chico Junior and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico, Sr.

One day in the Fall season, most of us were in the garden.  I was busy playing with the leaves that keep falling from the trees.  Daddy came up from the basement, and began telling Mommy that he was thinking about Jeffrey from the park.  Daddy said, “he usually comes by once in a while to say hi to all of us. I think I'm going to walk over to the park, and check on him.”  Tommy offered to go with him.  Chico said goodbye to us, and Tommy and Daddy were or on their way to the park.  As soon as they arrived at the park, Tommy noticed Jeffery from a distance.  They walked over to see him, and the family.  Jeffrey was happy to see them.  Jeffrey said, “I wanted to come over and see you Chico, but I hurt my left paw and could not walk over. I need your advice and help.”  He told Daddy that there was a female cat who drops by to eat, and would not talk to us.  We know that She is afraid, and keeps a distance.  This cat is very thin and usually very tired when we see her.  Jeffrey kept on with the story.  He also said it seems that she comes from a far distance.  Jeffrey said, “there she is.” Chico told Tommy, “we should hide so that she does not see us.”  She did the usual thing ate, and drank some water and looked around and was shaking a little bit when she noticed Chico, and Tommy peering out from the trees watching her.  She left in a hurry, and crossed the big Street on the Avenue.  Chico did not cross the big Street because Mommy keeps telling him that he should not because of his poor vision.  When Daddy crosses the street, he usually has the train station to walk to, but it's not near them now.  So, Chico asked Tommy to follow this Kitty and stay a distance behind and find out her story, and then come back to me and Report.  Chico told Tommy that he would be waiting on the corner for him.  Tommy returned in about a half hour.  He told Chico that this cat has babies, and she has them hidden behind a building in a corner that seemed not to have shelter.  They walked back to Jeffrey and told him, “don't worry we will take care of this.”  Chico then asked Jeffery about his paw.  Jeffrey said, “do not be concerned because it is getting better every day.”  So, with that they left and walked back home to the garden.  Chico told Mommy, and the others what had happened.  Aunt Anna said, “maybe this female cat with the babies is afraid of male cats. Perhaps I should go with you there, and help talk to her.”  Mommy thought that this was a very good idea, and left.  I was excited to think that the kittens would be coming home to our garden.  Chico, Tommy and aunt Anna were on their way.  This time Chico said, “I am glad that I can go with you guys because we can take the train station over the big Street.”  Tommy led them to the mommy cat, and her babies.  Chico told Anna, “we will stay behind while you go talk to her.”  So, Aunt Anna walked over to her and said, “please don't be afraid we want to talk to you,” and she said okay.  With that, aunt Anna signaled to Chico that he can come over.  Chico asked this cat what her story was. She told daddy that her name was Sarah, and that she is very friendly, but lost her forever home because her people parents fell on Hard Times and were evicted, and that's how she lost her home. Sarah was very scared to be outside because she grew up in a house.  Chico told her that she does not have to go so far to the park to eat.  Also, he told her that it is dangerous for her to cross the big Street.

CHICO’S BROOKLYN RESCUE – (CONT.)

Daddy showed her how to cross the train station, and go to the other side of the Avenue.  They told Sarah that the Garden was just up the street, and that she is welcome to come there to eat, and we will get help from a person we call the Rescuer.  She will know what to do.  It is too difficult for you to carry the babies to our home.  With that they left, and mentioned once again that they would be back with help.  When Daddy, aunt Anna and Tommy came back to the garden they told Mommy Sarah’s story.  Mommy agreed that the kittens cannot be moved, and that she and those babies were safe for the time being, however, we have to get help from the Rescuer as soon as possible.  Chico agreed, and decided that they couldn’t wait for her to come by the Garden.  So, Chico said he would go into the building, and up to her apartment.  Daddy left, and when a resident went into the building and opened the locked door, he followed them in.  Chico took the stairs up to the Rescuers door.  He then scratched on the door.  The Rescuer heard him, and came over to open her door.  As soon as she saw Chico the rescuer knew that something was terribly wrong.  She picked up a carrier, and followed him down the stairs to the Garden.  Chico told Mommy he would be back, and that he needed to lead The Rescuer to Sarah and the babies.  Tommy decided to go with them.  It took only 10 minutes for them to reach Sarah.  Chico told her not to be afraid, and that the Rescuer is here to help her.  Sarah realized that the carrier was for her, and the babies to go in.  Because she was not truly afraid of people, just terrified to be outside in the street, she let the Rescuer put her and the babies into the carrier.  The Rescuer told us not to worry, and that she would take care of this mommy and her babies, and with that she left.  When Chico, and Tommy arrived back at the Garden Chico told the others that Sarah, and the kittens are now safe and with the rescuer.  I was happy for them, but also a little disappointed that the babies were not coming to the garden.  Chico then turned to us, and said that it is very dangerous for a cat that is friendly to be out in the street because some people cannot be trusted, and it is easy for a cat like that to get hurt.  Thank goodness we have the Rescuer, and Save Our Strays to help us in time of need.  I will be back next month with another story.

My name is Chico Junior, and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico.

One fine day, most of us were in the garden enjoying our day, when we heard some people talking in the street.  Aunt Anna was listening.  Aunt Anna told us that a woman said, that she heard on the news that a black and white cat took the express train to the city from Brighton Beach.  I was excited to think that a cat was on one of those big cars in the sky.  Mommy asked Daddy, “could this be true?” Chico said, “I hope not because the cat could be lost somewhere, and not know how to come home.”  Just then Peter, an older cat from the neighborhood, walked into the garden.  He told Chico that he came to see him because one of his friends, Charlie was missing, and he was looking around the block for him.  Chico knew Charlie, so he told Peter that he believed that Charlie had taken the train to the city. Peter said, “Charlie was always curious about the trains, but I never thought he would go up there so high.”  Chico said, “we have to get others to help find him.” Mommy pulled daddy aside, and said “it is too dangerous for you to go up there, and look for Charlie.”  Daddy told Mommy not to worry and said they had to go look for Charlie because it was the right thing to do.  Tommy said, “let's go get buddy, Daniel and Ethan from the Avenue to go with us.”  So, Peter, Tommy, Chico, buddy, Daniel and Ethan started up the stairs at the train station.  Chico said, the plan was that they would all stand in front of one of the cars of the train, and when the doors open, they would look in to see if Charlie is inside.  The train stays in the station about 5 minutes before it pulls out again.  Just then, the Rescuer came up behind them.  She said, “Chico, Tommy and guys what are you doing here?” She saw them positioning themselves apart from one another.  Then the train came into the station, and the doors opened.  Each cat went into one of the cars, and looked around.  Buddy started making a lot of noise, and carrying on meowing.  We all ran to him, including the Rescuer.  There was Charlie, cowering under one of the seats.  Chico told Charlie not to worry, and that everything is okay now. Peter entered the car too, and you could see that Charlie was so glad to see him. The Rescuer ran in, and scooped Charlie up.  He stayed very still in her arms.  She carried Charlie to the garden with Daddy, and the others following.  When Charlie appeared in the garden, we were all so happy to see him safe and sound.  Mommy was so relieved to see Daddy, and I ran over to him.  The Rescuer went to her car that was parked nearby, and brought over a lot of fresh food and water for everyone.  Charlie drank a lot of water, and ate some food.  Daddy thanked Daniel, Ethan, and especially buddy.  They said they were glad to help, and left to go back to the Avenue.  Mommy suggested that Charlie should lay down in the garden, and take a nap before he goes home with Peter.  Everything seemed to be fine so the Rescuer said that she had to go to work, and would see us later and left.  Chico turned to everybody, and said that it is natural for cats to be curious, however, we must try to think things through before we do something we know to be Reckless. Of Course mommy looked over at me.

I will be back next month with another story.
