                                                 CHICO’S BROOKYN RESCUE
My name is Chico Junior, and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico.
One chilly day, we were in the garden trying to catch some sun.  Tommy was playing hide, and seek with me when I noticed Mommy and Aunt Anna talking to each other, looking very serious.  Just then, Chico came into the garden returning early from his morning chores.  Mommy told Chico that she, and Aunt Anna heard a kitten crying.  Chico said he did not hear anything however, he knew that Mommy was tuned in to hearing babies cry.  Aunt Anna said, “I hear it again.”  Mommy, and Aunt Anna went out of the garden onto the sidewalk.  After a few seconds, they knew that the crying was coming directly from across the street, and told Daddy.  Chico said, “I believe the both of you, however, there are not supposed to be any cats living there anymore, especially babies.  Chico suggested that Tommy go with him to check it out.  Mommy, as always, told Daddy to be careful crossing the street.  When they stepped onto the curb, Chico thought he heard a faint cry.  Tommy reminded Daddy that they cannot go through to the back yard from here anymore, because of the mean Landlord.  Chico stood there quiet for a moment, and then said to Tommy, “we have to find a way in.” They started walking up the block some until Chico noticed a gate that was not chained together properly, and pointed it out to Tommy.  Chico said, “this is our way in.”  Once in the back yard, they started walking down to where the sounds came from.  Tommy told Daddy that he saw a cat in the distance.  When they came closer, Daddy knew that the cat was scared.  Daddy said, “do not be afraid, we are here to help you.”  The cat said, “my name is Ruby and I am in trouble.  I was looking for a place to have my babies when somehow, I became locked back here. Some nice person noticed me, and started throwing food out the window a few times a day. Things seemed okay, but now one of my kittens is crying all the time.” Daddy said, do not worry we will be back with help.”  With that Daddy, and Tommy made their way back to the garden.  Daddy told Mommy Ruby's story. Mommy said that could mean that one of her babies is sick, and she needs help immediately.  Just then, as luck would have it, the Rescuer came by with our lunch. She was putting out our food, and water when she noticed us all huddled together. The Rescuer asked, “is everything is okay?”  Chico walked out of the garden, and began staring across the street.  The Rescuer went to her car, and took out her carrier.  Chico, and Tommy started crossing the street and the rescuer followed them.  When Daddy, and Chico stopped short at the gate with the chain, the Rescuer looked at it and began unraveling the chain until it was undone.  Then Chico, and Tommy anxious to get back to the cat picked up speed with the Rescuer running behind them.  Ruby saw them approaching, and was ready with her three babies.  Chico began talking to Ruby telling her that this nice lady will take care of you, and your babies.  Ruby was friendly, and let the rescuer pet her.  Then the kittens, and Ruby were placed in the carrier and off they all went.  The Rescuer told Daddy, and Chico that she was going to the veterinarian, and that she would stop by the garden later.  Tommy, and Chico went back to the garden to tell Mommy, Aunt Anna and the others what had happened.

We anxiously waited for the rescuer to return.  Soon she appeared out of nowhere smiling, and announced to us that one of the kittens didn't feel well, and now thanks to you guys, they will all be fine and with that she left.  I asked Daddy what would happen to Ruby, and the babies.  Chico said, “they will all be found forever homes.  This made us all very happy.

I will be back next month with another story.
