Brooklyn Rescue February 2020 Edition

My name is Chico Junior, and I have a story to tell about my daddy, Chico Sr.

One day in the garden my aunt Anna was listening to a conversation by 2 tenants living in the building. They are looking at the Garden, and she thought maybe it had to do with the cats. She couldn't understand what they were saying because they were speaking Spanish so she called daddy over. Chico understood Spanish because it was his first language. Chico translated that there were tenants who moved out yesterday, and left a dog and cat behind in the apartment. Chico was worried because he didn't know if any food or water was left with them, and who was going to take care of the dog and the cat. Daddy was the dog crying. Chico asked if there was a cat with him. The kitty came to the door, and told Chico that their "human parents" moved out, and left them behind because they couldn't bring animals to their new place. Chico was very upset about this, because you don't treat your "pet children" this way. He told them he will get help and be back. He went down to the garden, and Mommy reminded him that the rescuers were there in the morning, and said they will not be back until late that evening. Daddy needed to go to the Super for help. He went back in the building, and when he saw the superintendent going into the elevator, Chico went in with him. The super brought him down to the basement in the elevator, and Chico would not get out. The super surmised form this that something might be wrong in the building, and Chico was trying to tell him about it. He took the elevator up with Chico to the main floor, and they both got out. Then Daddy took the steps, and the super followed. Chico took him to the apartment, and they both heard the dog whimpering behind the door. It turned out that the door was not locked, just pulled closed. When they opened the door, the dog and cat were so happy to see them. The super immediately, gave them fresh water and food. He took the dog down to the street to do his business, and Chico stayed with the cat. The super had the phone number for Save Our Strays, so he called them and explained the situation. Save Our Strays asked another rescuer to come to the building to take the cat and the dog to the vet for check-ups, and to see what they could do about finding them homes. Chico. told the cat, and dog not to worry because everything would be ok. Daddy came. back to the garden to tell us what happened. Mommy was very proud of Chico because he helped the dog and the cat to safety. My daddy always knows what to do. Mommy said now it was time for Chico to have some nourishment, and rest in the garden with everyone else. It was a beautiful day. I will be back next month with another story.
