My name is Chico Junior. I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico.
On a hot summer day, many of us were in the garden where the shade
was. We waited there for the Rescuer to come to feed us at the feeding
station. Chico was standing at the feeding station when a group of
beachgoers were coming up the block. The Rescuer stopped feeding
because she heard a kitten crying. She did not know where the crying was
coming from. She was thinking that perhaps the kitten was lost in the
crowd. She walked around, but could not find the kitten.

A little while later, mommy told Daddy she thinks one of the men
going to the beach was carrying the kitten. Chico then made his way up
the block to the beach, taking Tommy with him. The sand was hot, on the
beach, however, that did not stop them from looking for the kitten. Then
they got lucky. They found the kitten sitting alone on a blanket. Chico told
Tommy that these people that had the kitten were irresponsible because
the sun was too hot for this kitten, and the ocean was very close to the
blanket. There was not even a bowl of water out for the kitten. Chico said,
we have to take the kitten because he's in too much Danger. Tommy said
he could run fast, but he did not want to hurt the kitten. Chico told him
mommy carries the babies from the neck, and we have to take the chance.
Then Tommy picked up the kitten, and ran away with it. Chico hid behind
one of the beach chairs. When the man came from the ocean, he started
running after Tommy, but could not catch up with him. Daddy ran after the
man to try to block him, so that he could not keep up with Tommy. Then
when daddy could not see Tommy, and the kitten he knew they were safe,
and went home to the garden. When daddy arrived, he saw the kitten there
with Mommy. Mommy said the kitten is not hurt, and Tommy did a
wonderful job. Mommy carried the baby to the water, encouraging him to
drink.

The Rescuer had been looking for the kitten, and came by the garden
again and saw the little one there. She scooped him up, and thanked all of
us. The kitten spent the night at the vet because he was dehydrated, but
he was otherwise fine. The rescuer came back to the Garden to tell us that
Save Our Strays was going to take care of the little guy, and find him a
forever home. We were all so very happy. I will be back next month with
another story. My father is a great leader, and rescuer.
