brooklyn rescue july 2020 edition

My name is Chico Junior, and I have story to tell you about my daddy Chico senior.
Daddy is very busy looking after all of us.  He sees to it that everything is okay in our Garden, and that we can always go down to the basement safely for shelter.  On most days, Daddy takes his time walking through the hallways of the apartment building to see that everything is in order.  On this day, he noticed something very odd on the 2nd floor.  There was a small area that was burnt on the ground.  He knew he should show this to the superintendent.  So he went down to the lobby to look for him, and just then the Rescuer was coming in the building.  She looked at Chico, and asked him if everything was alright.  He turned around, and lead her up the stairs to show her the burnt area.  She said this should be checked out, and told Daddy to go back to the garden.  About an hour later, the rescuer came to the garden with lunch, and told Chico she met with the super and he said he noticed the same thing on the other side of the building, and that he would look into it further.  She thanked Chico and left.  Chico turned to Mommy, Aunt Anna, Tommy, me and the others and said that he's very concerned about us, and the people living in the building.  I asked Daddy can't the people take care of themselves, and he said we have to all look after one another.  Daddy said we are safer in the garden, and not to go down to the basement.  He told Mommy to keep a careful eye on me.  He left, and went back into the building to do some spying.  Sometime later, he noticed a teenager walking around inside.  Chico thought this was suspicious, and followed him to the third floor.  The teenager took out a book of matches as he stood in front of a sofa that was placed outside someone's door, and started to light the matches.  Chico started hissing at him, and the boy became startled and dropped the matches in front of him, before he was able to light them.  A neighbor coming out of her apartment, witnessed this and called the Super to tell him what was happening.  The superintendent came quickly.  He recognized the teenager, and took him to his parents. Daddy felt relieved, and went back to the garden.  Later on that day the super, the Rescuer and a fireman came to the gate of the garden to see Chico.  The fireman smiled at Chico, and told him he was a hero.  (The fireman had been called to help check the building to make sure it was safe.)    Chico was very pleased by this, and said that the important thing was that no one was hurt.  I am so proud of my daddy.  I will be back next month with another story.
