My name is Chico Junior, and I have a story to tell you about my daddy Chico, Sr.

One beautiful day in our garden, most of us were sitting around enjoying the day.  I asked Mommy if I could go play in the outside garden.  She said I could however, Daddy reminded me not to go onto the sidewalk.  I was having a great time jumping around from bushes to bushes looking up watching the birds, and the insects and then I thought I saw something moving on one of the fire escapes.  Aunt Anna, who was probably sent out to keep an eye on me, asked me what I was looking at.  She looked up, and said out loud that she thought that there is a cat on the 4th floor fire escape.  Chico, and Mommy and some of the others, came out to look. Mommy, knowing that Chico couldn't see well, told him indeed there is a cat up there, and the window is closed to the apartment. Chico believed the kitty could be in trouble, and very frightened. Mommy reminded daddy that he had friends in the fire department, and they had those great big ladders.  Chico said that is was not a good idea because they have trucks that would make too much noise, and frighten the kitty even more.  Just then, the Rescuer was coming over to give us lunch, and saw us all looking up. She looked up, and realized right way that there was a kitty on the 4th floor fire escape huddled up in the corner.  She said let me go up to the to the apartment where she believed the kitty came out from.  When she knocked on the door there was no answer, so she left a note explaining the situation, and leaving her phone number too. Meanwhile, Tommy told Daddy he wanted to help.  Chico said let's wait to see what happens with the Rescuer, but Tommy was too anxious to reason with.  Instead he jumped on a ledge on the brick wall, and then jumped onto the ladder. Once he did that, it was very easy for him to climb up the rest of the ladder, and fire escapes to the 4th floor.  The kitty seemed relieved to see Tommy.  The kitty watched Tommy climb the ladder so he tried, and they both climbed all the way up to the roof.  Chico ran inside the apartment building past the Rescuer, who was with the super in the lobby. They followed Chico up the stairs to the roof.  The super opened the door for Chico.  Chico went out, and saw Tommy sitting with the kitty.  Chico told the kitty we are here to help you.  The kitty said she went out the window to look around, and when she wanted to go back in the house the window was locked.  Chico said follow me, and we will take you home.  Chico started walking, the kitty followed and Tommy was bringing up the rear.  They walked past the Rescuer, and the super down the stairs to the 4th floor outside the apartment.  The Rescuer and the super met them there.  The Rescuers quickly gave the Kitty some water, and she drank it down in a hurry.  The rescuer told Chico that the owners were not home.   Chico told the kitty to relax, and that they would stay with her until her parents came home.  The Rescuer, and the super left.  Some hours later people came up to the door, and were shocked to see Kitty outside in the hall.  They opened the door, and the cat ran in with them.  Chico, and Tommy went back to the garden, and told Mommy and the others what happened.  Mommy thanked Tommy for being so Brave.  Chico agreed with Mommy, and then said the owners were very irresponsible.  They should have had screens on the windows.  Something terrible could have happened to their kitty.  I am sure the Rescuer is going to explain that to them.  Daddy said let's get back to enjoying our beautiful day.  I will be back next month with another story.
