![]() FLORIDA RESCUE Meet Pepe!! He was rescued from a backyard, born in the wild. I picked him up at five weeks old, and now he is seven months old. Yes, you read it right, I said seven months old. He only weighs 2 1/2 pounds. The vet said that he is a mini. You can usually tell how big an animal is going to be by the size of their feet. Pepe has tiny little feet. This is my first encounter with a mini cat. When he’s full grown, he probably won’t weigh any more than 4 1/2 pounds. He is adorable, wouldn’t you say? As we approach kitten season, it’s always best to rescue them between four weeks, and six weeks old. After six weeks old, they’re already turning feral. They will spit at you, scratch you, and bite you so be careful out there. Make sure that, if you do pick them up, to grab them from the scruff of their neck. Make sure you always keep your kittens isolated in one room, as because of their size, they could really get into trouble in your house. They could get trapped behind the washing machine or the refrigerator. All kinds of places are hazardous for little kittens. So, if you’re not home and cannot monitor them, please put them in your bedroom or bathroom until they are older, at least 3 pounds, which would be approximately 9 weeks old. Kittens are a lot of fun, but they are a lot of work too, just like a puppy! So, if you’re not willing to put the work in, maybe an older cat would be best for you. Either way, there’s a cute little Fur baby out there for everyone. Enjoy!
