Meet Beau!
Beau has been adopted.  Thanks to Save Our Strays!  He was found wandering around a public Home Depot parking lot.  He was already neutered, but with no microchip, there was no way to find his way back home.  There is a colony there of other cats, so we carefully assessed the situation.  We came to the conclusion that Beau was dropped off there by his owner.  He was clean, like he had been taken out of his house, and just completely dropped off without any reason that I could see, as far as behavior.  His giant black freckle on his face just makes me laugh.  He is such
a good boy and a big, big boy and has no behavioral problems whatsoever.  I don’t understand why they would not have taken him to a shelter.  He is so friendly, so sweet and very adoptable.  Thanks to Save Our Strays, we were able to update his shots and give him a good checkup before he goes to his forever home.  A second chance at happiness, and the home we found for him. I am confident that this is a forever place. Good luck Beau!!

Meet Nacho!

Nacho is a 3 ½ month old kitten that was dropped off by a person, that did not care to bring him to a shelter, at one of my colonies at Home Depot Plaza.  Lucky for Nacho, it was my night to feed the kitties and I caught a glimpse of him running around the bushes.  Thank goodness I always, always, always keep a trap with me, and a cage and some towels for emergencies just like this one.  I set a trap, and he was so hungry that he went right in.  Thanks to Save Our Strays, I got him neutered and all his shots were done.  He has been adopted, and is going to a really good home in a couple days.  Nacho does not have to live outside for the next 15 years in the rain, in the cold and in the heat.  He will be snuggled next to someone in a nice warm bed, with people that care about him.  Please, please take unwanted animals to shelters, and stop dropping them off wherever.  They are not wild animals, and not meant to live outdoors like wild animals.  They are domestic animals, and deserve to have a chance to get a home.  Especially kittens.  Nacho was friendly not feral, but I am so happy for him and he will have a beautiful life ahead of him.

Meet Trixie!

Just hanging out!  Trixie has a bunch of tricks up her sleeve!  She loves to be the center of attention!  She was rescued from the bushes, next to a post office.  She would peek her head out of the bushes, and just play the peekaboo game and that’s how I saw her.  No matter where you go, if you love cats, just keep your eyes open. You will see a cat in your travels just about anywhere.  Unfortunately, there are so many homeless cats out there.  I come across them everywhere I go.  Just stop, and help if you can, especially now in the summertime as it is kitten season.  Thanks to Save Our Strays, I’m able to continue with my journey of rescuing cats.  If you don’t have a hobby, it’s a good one to have because you’re saving a life and keeping busy at the same time.  Especially if you’re retired, you may be looking for something to do. Call your local animal shelter, and volunteer.  It will give you purpose in life.  Also, with Fourth of July coming up soon, animals usually don’t like fireworks.  Try to be respectful, and make sure you’re not stressing out your cat or dog during that time. Enjoy!

This is Beau.  He is one of the biggest cats I’ve ever seen.  I call him a gentle giant.  He was abandoned next to a Publix grocery store.  I just happened to see him peeking through the bushes, as I was driving by.  I pulled over, and he was sitting there as if he was waiting for me all his life.  I gave him some food, and I went back the next day.  A few days later, he was here again.  I didn’t even have to use the trap.  I just picked him up, put him in a crate and took him home.  He is a beautiful, neutered male cat that someone just left behind.  How, and why could people do that?  Normally, when a cat is abandoned, they have some behavior problems.  I could tell he was not a stray because he was very clean, and usually if they’ve been roaming for a while, they
look a little dirty, and on the rough side.  He was spotless, as though someone took him off the couch, and just left him there.  After one month of analyzing his personality, I found that he is by far, one of the best cats I’ve ever encountered.  His personality is flawless.  He has no bad behaviors, and I just cannot imagine why he was left there. Everybody has their reasons for abandoning their animals, but please bring them to an animal shelter.  If you’re afraid of them being euthanized, pick a no-kill animal shelter. Thanks to Save Our Strays for caring enough to help me get these animals off the streets.  Beau is going to be having a second chance at having a loving family to take care of him.  Good luck Beau!

           Meet Astro!!!

Isn’t he adorable!!!  Thanks to Save our Strays for giving me the knowledge, and the help that I need to rescue these cats off the streets.  There’s a colony that I take care of in an empty lot, next to a gas station where there are 2 cats named Johnny and Lulu.  Both of them are spayed/neutered.  Totally a cute couple.  All of a sudden, Astro showed up as a tiny kitten, in the bushes.  I don’t know where in the world he came from because Johnny, and Lulu are both, like I said, spayed/neutered.  I called him to come out of the bushes, and set up a trap several times.  I did everything I could, but he would not come out.  After many attempts to get him, I let him be and Next thing I know, 3 months later he was joining Johnny and Lulu for dinner.  I finally gained his trust where I could actually get him by the scruff of the the neck, and put him in a Crate and took him home.  Save Our Strays stepped in, and got him neutered and all his shots were done.  He was a little rough around the edges, and he is still in training, but he has
made huge progress towards becoming socialized enough to be adoptable.  His personality is very comical.  He makes me laugh.  I carefully selected his name because of the white medallion on his chest.  I picked Astro because for some reason, I feel he would be a good cat for a young boy.  He is, like I said, such a funny, comical cat that I feel a young boy would enjoy him.  Especially with the name Astro.  Thanks to Save Our Strays, he is on his way, but it remains a mystery where he came from, and there were no other kittens around, and no mother.  He must have broken away from his little family, but luckily for him, he will find a family of his own soon!

Meet Ashley, Misty, and Glory!!  All three cats were living on the streets. Thanks to Save Our Strays, we were able to rescue them.  They have all been spayed to stop the multiplying.  So, now they can live a healthy and happy life while waiting for their forever home.  As you can see, they are on a cat tree, and cat trees are highly recommended for cats.  It gives them their own space to play, sleep and scratch it up instead of your furniture.  To keep them interested, just sprinkle a pitch of catnip all around it.  They really enjoy the stimulation.  They come in all sizes, and shapes to fit your decor in your home.  So, all of these three beautiful kitties have their own story.  Ashley was rescued from a dump truck parking lot.  Misty was rescued from behind a mechanic shop, and Glory was rescued from a grocery store parking lot.  Thanks to Save Our Strays.  They are so happy to be off the streets, and have a good warm meal and a place to lay their head at night out of the rain, heat, etc.  Hope you enjoy the picture!  Thanks.

As we approach springtime, there are kittens being born in backyards, under cars, in the bushes etc.  Once they become teenagers, by five or six months old, they are having kittens themselves.  These two kittens were rescued just in time before they had babies.  With the help of Save Our Strays, they were spayed and neutered, and socialized.  If you plan on keeping feral cats in your backyard, do the right thing and find an organization to help you spay and neuter the young kittens, before they become mothers themselves.  Help control the population of unwanted pets.  Not to mention the cruelty of kittens being born on the ground, getting rained on, or snowed on, or the sun beating down on them.  In the spring, we must all inspect our backyards.  Inspect all your shrubs, and bushes and make sure you don’t have a mother with kittens that needs your help.  And while you’re back there enjoy smelling the flowers!

GLORY

Meet Glory!

She showed up at one of my colonies with a face and ear full of mange. Poor thing was just suffering.  Mange could easily suffocate the cat, if not treated promptly and properly.  The treatment is only once a week.  Please talk to your vet if you need advice.  With the help of Save our Strays, we were able to first clear up her mange, and then get her spayed and her shots done so she can go up for adoption.  With Mange time is of the essence, as it could spread very quickly and it could spread to other animals.  It could also spread to humans, if you’re not careful.  You must wear gloves when dealing with a cat with this condition.  Please consult with your vet.  As you can see in the pictures, her mange was completely gone, but left a tiny scar on her nose, which eventually will go away.  Now, Glory can find a home and live happily ever after!

Say hello to Phoebe!!!
As we wrap up 2023, I reflect on all the cats that I have rescued with the help of Save Our Strays, and this little adorable, fluffy calico comes to mind.  She, and her brother were dropped off behind a Home Depot, when they were just two months old.  They were both terrified, and hungry.  I got them both out of there, and brought them home.  Her brother Sully was adopted fairly quickly.  He was black, and white and also adorable, but I grew very fond of Little Phoebe.  She was spayed, and all her shots were done and I am looking for that special person to take her because she requires so much affection, and attention.  Don’t we all?  A lot of times I wait till after the holidays to find homes for the cats, because people tend to
adopt cats as a present to someone.  Animals are not presents.  They need to be wanted, and cared for!!  They deserve forever homes, so if you are adopting a cat before Christmas or even before New Year’s, please make sure that the cat is a wanted family member, and not an animal adopted out of emotions towards the holidays!  Happy Holidays from Florida!!!

Meet FROSTY!!!
No, not the snowman, but the beautiful Snow White cat.  He was running wild in a parking lot.  After several weeks, I finally got the chance to trap him and hold onto him for a few months because he was so beautiful.  I grew attached to him, but lucky for him everybody wanted him because he was pure white, and that’s why his name is frosty.  Thanks to Save Our Strays, I was able to get him neutered and all his shots were updated, and then he was ready for adoption.  After having him for a few months, he socialized beautifully.

He was an older teenager when I picked him up, and blossomed into this beautiful giant white cat.  White cats are not really popular up north because they blend in with the snow, and from what I understand people up north prefer Black cats, but in Florida white cats are popular and hard to find.  Frosty’s new owner is a proud mama.  Enjoy your holidays.  Whatever they may bring.  From snowball fights to Frosty whites.  Happy Hanukkah, and Merry Christmas!
