Dear Friends and Members:
Happy New Year 2020 to one and all! We are starting our 52nd year of existence. We started because of several cats, who gave birth in the basement of the building that I lived in, in Brighton Beach. I was pregnant with my daughter, and it broke my heart to see all those kittens with no future. That's when I got together with other people, who cared about strays, and Save Our Strays was born. We have a great deal to be proud of, and most important YOU have so much to be proud of. The fund and support that have been give to us over the years, have helped so, so many cats, dogs, horses, and farm animals. We shared our donations when we could, with other organizations. So everyone, give yourself a pat on the back - you deserve it, and we thank you so very much. We have made some strides this year. In New York, there are some new laws to help the horses, and just now legislation to help the birds, and also end the force feeding of ducks. We will have articles about this. My hope, and prayer for this New Year, once again, is Humane Legislation to help the farm animals that are used for food. There is no excuse for their suffering before being slaughtered. They are living, feeling creatures, and suffer pain, and feel fear just like we do. (Vegan is a positive thought.) Kindness is a way of life. How we want to be treated is the way we should treat others, whether they are 2-legged or 4-legged. Have a wonderful New Year - be happy, be healthy, and may all the good things in life come to you. We are family!

G-d created man and animals. If we expect mercy for ourselves, we have to show mercy also.
I hope that the world will become a better place this year. Let's all live compassionate lives. This will bring us happiness. Let's try to eliminate as much suffering as we can, to family, friends, and all animals. A reminder to our supporters to shop at www.smile.amazon.com/ch/23-7282525. You will then get the Amazon Smile home page for Save Our Strays. If you look under the white search bar, with the word "all" in it, you will see "Supporting: Save Our Strays." Now you are ready to shop. Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase to Save Our Strays Inc. Amazon has a large variety of gifts that are perfect for all holidays, and occasions i.e.:birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, christenings, bar mitzvahs, and lovely gifts for Valentine's Day. Items that they have are: electronics, jewelry, clothing, and more. You may have to set up an Amazon account to use Smile. Please Try. It is important. As I have said in my opening story, we are starting our 52nd year because of you. We would like to thank you on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of animals that have been helped, through our hands-on efforts, and through the funds we have donated to other hands-on organizations. Together, Save Our Strays, and the other 501(c)3 organizations, and you were a great force, that made it possible to accomplish so much. We are not in a position now to help other organizations, but we are helping colonies of cats in New York, and West Palm Beach. We share where we can. So many strays are benefiting from your continuous support. We are helping rescuers around the country with medical aid to sick or injured strays. Please Remember Our Troops "We salute your for all you have done. Your courage has kept us safe. Your sacrifice has kept us free. All of America owes you more than we can repay. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are behind you all the way - From the battlefield...to recovery!" As we start a new year, I would like to thank our volunteers, who will be continuing to help us in the new year, to help rescue and feed strays. So thank you to Linda, Robbin, Nancy, Joyce, Margo, Pat, Rimma, John, Bobby, Nikiya, Carol, Niki, Naomi, Helen, Suzanne and a special thank you to Linda Abad, our go to Administrative person, who handles A to Z problems and solves them. Love and caring to everyone. May the New Year be a good one, and let's pledge to help at least one stray at a time. Have a wonderful New Year! Till next time, Waggin' Off! Hi,
It's January, and once again we are about to start a new year. I would like to start off by wishing all of you, and your loved ones a HAPPY and HEALTHY NEW YEAR. Let's hope that this year - 2020 - will bring about better things for us, and for our four-legged friends. Please try to remember to reach out, and help the many homeless people out there, many of whom have pets. Try to lend a hand where you can with food, and warm clothing for them, and for their pets as well. They will be most grateful for the help. Remember that whatever good we do, during the time that we are on this earth, is a gold star for us in the Book of Life. So let's make it our business to be compassionate toward those less fortunate than us, whether they be 2-legged or 4-legged. The cold weather is upon us so I hope that you all have your shelters up, and ready for the strays, with plenty of dry food and water. Remember that "we are their guardians." I know that I have said this before, but I feel that it is important enough to repeat again. When walking your dog in temperatures that are below 50 degrees, please make sure that your pet is protected from the elements with a sweater or coat. Contrary to what some people may think, their fur is not enough to keep them warm, and they can catch cold the same as we do. A reminder that our phones are open from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday. I am always here to guide you through any situation that comes your way, and messages are always picked up, and returned in a timely fashion, and on weekends also. Remember, if you see an animal that needs help, please try to see what you can do to help - don't ignore it, and walk away. The strays have a difficult time of it out there, especially when it comes to finding food, and any help that we can give will be appreciated. Again, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all our friends, and members. Till Next Time. |
