ELECTION DAY
VETERAN’S DAY HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS 11/1/20 Dear Friends and Members: How are you? I hope that you are all well. Save Our Strays would like to wish you, and your family, friends and pets a wonderful, Happy and Healthy Holiday season, and a wonderful New Year. As I have said, since it is November, and with Thanksgiving the Holiday season starts, there are many things to be thankful for. We are still here reading this newsletter, and hopefully we will soon have a good vaccine and we can start to get back to some sense of normalcy. We have to remember all the empty seats at our table, and may their memories be a blessing. Please wear masks, and pray for a better 2021. It is the season to open our hearts to those less fortunate than we are. We must help the homeless, who go out of their way to adopt stray animals, and give them love and caring. For anyone, animals complete a family. Please don’t pass them by. Show them kindness if you can, i.e.: coins, food or clothing. It will make you feel so very good. This is a newsletter from an animal organization, so let me plead for the animals. Stop cruelty when you see it. Elect people who are animal friendly. We have to change the laws, and we can only do that through legislation. There is injustice to man, and animal and it is time that we change the laws for the good of our country. We have to all think about becoming a world without eating animals. In many parts of the world, dogs and cats – man’s best friend – are eaten as a delicacy. Yes, we will all sit down to dinner for the holidays, but please remember the life of the animal that you are eating, and think about how good vegetables, fruits, nuts and salads are. I am not perfect or telling you what to do. I am only saying that all life matters, and at least we have to start to think about this. At the very least, as long as we still eat animals, we have to fight for humane slaughter, if there is such a thing, and have it regulated. There are many vegetarian foods that are like meat, and are healthier for you. We hope to regulate how farm animals are treated. They are intelligent, thinking and feeling creatures. They have the same feelings that we do. They feel pain, fear, happiness and sorrow when their “children” are taken away from them to be killed, or whatever horror is in their future. They cry real tears. The lovely wool sweater that you wear all winter comes from the pain, and suffering of sheep that are sheared by uncaring people, who leave them torn, bleeding and in pain to heal for another year to produce wool. (See the internet, and Facebook – they have videos.) We have to band together to change what we can. Please write to your legislators. We must fight for humane care of animals in the “harvesting” of what we receive from these poor creatures. Animals are not for our use. We don’t need horses to pull carriages for our pleasure. It may be a pleasant experience, and romantic at times for you, but not for the horse. We here at Save Our Strays are only saying that we are hoping that the world will change, but until it does, let’s at the very least, fight for humane care and laws, that give protection to all animals. Remember the old saying, “do unto others as we want others to do unto us.” We have a holiday of St. Francis of Assisi, where we all have our animals blessed. We must now include animals that are used for food against their will – they matter also. The bottom line is, let’s love each other and take care of each other, our families, our friends, our neighbors, our pets and all the animals of the world. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
