ROBBIN’S NEST
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our readers. Remember that this is the month of Love, so let’s all make it a priority to be kind to each other, and those less fortunate than we are. On another note, I would like to tell you about some rescues that I have been involved in lately. JADEN – Someone had told me about a small grocery store, that had a pregnant cat. A few days later, I went to the store to check it out. It turned out that the cat wasn’t pregnant any more, and that she had given birth to six kittens. With a lot of coaxing, we convinced the owner to allow us to take the mother cat to a veterinarian to be checked out, spayed, etc. We also told him that my friend would take of her, and the kittens and that when it was time, we would return the mama cat to him. Well, during the seven weeks that my friend was caring for the mama, and the kittens the mama cat wasn’t producing enough milk. So, the kittens had to be bottle fed. The important thing was to get the mama built up, and return her to the grocery store owner, since they did want her back. Two of the kittens have already been adopted together. Another happy ending. Always check things out when you hear about situations like this. GABBY – Just when I thought I had finished spaying, and neutering all the felines on one of the streets where I feed, a new cat appeared. That is what always happens. I was out feeding, and all of a sudden, at one of my spots, a new black cat about 5 or 6 months old, appeared. Fortunately, my friend was there with me, as she had an appointment to take another cat to the veterinarian to be spayed, and she had a trap with her. Luckily, Gabby went right into the trap, and off she went to the veterinarian to be fixed, and evaluated. Gabby was frightened, but she calmed down after a few days in the house. She was socialized, and went up for adoption. I was so happy that she did not have to go back to my feeding spot. She was adopted by a young couple, and is doing great. PUDGIE – Pudgie is a male Tiger, and white cat with short stubby legs, that someone had put at one of my feeding spots. This was a while ago. Pudgie, an older cat, was friendly, and really did not want to be in the street, but he was put there neutered, and his ear had been clipped. It is hard enough finding homes for kittens, but it is even more difficult with older cats. Anyway, while I was feeding, a neighbor of mine came along, and while I was talking to him, Pudgie popped up, and immediately took a liking to him. When I told him about the situation with Pudgie, he said that he would take him home, since he has had cats before. I put Pudgie in a carrier, and went with the man to set Pudgie up in his house. So far, so good. It has been a month now, since he was adopted, and I have been checking on him. Save Our Strays pays for all veterinary medical bills on Robbin’s rescues, and all rescues that we are involved with by all our volunteer rescuers. We are proud to carry on the mission of our benefactor.
