ROBBIN’S NEST

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our readers.  Remember that this is the month of Love, so let’s all make it a priority to be kind to each other, and those less fortunate than we are.

On another note, I would like to tell you about some rescues that I have been involved in lately.

MARILYN & HER CREW –
I was walking out of a store with a friend to my car, and I looked under the porch of a building and saw about 6 cats.  Two were small, and none of them were spayed or neutered and there was no food.  So, we put down dry food and water for them.  I then made phone call to see what we could do to help, because what I do not need is another feeding spot.  We went back quite a few times, until we got them all.  After spaying, and neutering them, I had to find a place for them where they would be socialized.  I was in a predicament.  I then got a rescuer friend of mine to foster them in her basement, where we attempted to socialize them.  It turned out that Marilyn, and the other 2 males and one female were feral.  The 2 kittens will go up for adoption, but Marilyn and the other 2 males, and one female will be put in one of my colonies, where I am sure that they won’t run away.

JOANN –
One day, I got a phone call from someone telling me that there was a female Calico at in the backyard of the projects.  My friend, and I went to check out the situation.  We had to go at night because Joann, the Calico, would not go near a trap during the day, even with salmon, tuna, sardines and chicken in it.  So, we went late one night, and set the trap, covering it with twigs and such.  Well, finally Joann ran in.  We had her spayed the next day, and after the doctor checked her out, one of the rescuers held her until she was ready to go out.  (We hold females 10 days, to make sure that all is well.)  When we did release her, she was really happy to go back to familiar ground.  She will be fed, and has shelter.

MARSHA –
Marsha was a Tabby cat that I saw sitting all by herself.  She had messy fur, and a puffy eye and she was very skinny.  I immediately set a trap, and put a trail of food and she eventually went in.  I covered her, and brought her right to the doctor.  Marsha was dehydrated, malnourished and needed to be built up.  They kept her at the doctor’s office to be treated, and I picked her up after all the results came back.  She is being fostered, and then we will look for placement for her.  Right now, Marsha is safe and happy.  I will keep you updated.  (Yes, she is friendly.
