ROBBIN’S NEST Hello Again, I would like to start off this month by wishing all of our readers a HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY. Remember that Daylight Savings begins on March 13th, so don’t forget to fix your clocks. Now I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in recently. HENRY – Just when you think you are going to have a somewhat normal day, an emergency happens. It was so cold, and windy and all of a sudden, at one of my feeding spots a male Tuxedo cat appeared. He was all beaten up, and wheezing so badly from his nose and chest. He had a horrible Upper Respiratory Infection. The cat, whom I named Henry, was looking at me as if to say, “please help me.” It was so heartbreaking. Anyway, I was able to get him easily because he was sick, and very hungry. He is now in the hospital being treated, and when he is better we will decide what is best for Henry. GIA – One day, while on my rounds, I saw an all-black female cat, about 6 months old, a few feet from where I feed. I immediately set a trap, and she went right in. I did not know that Gia was friendly, until I brought her to the veterinarian that morning. I thought to myself, I cannot put her back in the street. Kittens are always easier to adopt out, but older ones are a little more difficult. Anyway, Gia had such a great personality, and I knew that was a plus. Then, not long after that, a couple came to adopt a kitten, but when Gia went over to them they were so impressed with her being so affectionate that they adopted her. Such a nice ending. FELIX & GINA – A couple, and their daughter came to adopt a kitten. To our surprise, they showed an interest in a cat named Gina, a 3½ month old Tabby, but she has a bit of a temper. When you are holding her, and she has had enough, she will give you a little nip. A lot of people do not know how to handle a feisty feline, but when this couple adopted Felix, a 2½ month old black kitten and saw Gina, they held her and loved how feisty she was, and decided to adopt Gina also. So they left with both kittens, and they can learn from each other, with a lovely family. P.S.:- Save Our Strays, paid for all the medical bills in the above stories. They also contribute a large amount of food that is fed to our stray colonies.
