ROBBIN’S NEST
Hello Again, April is here, and, spring is upon us. It has been a hard winter. I am glad that it is behind us, and I am sure that the strays agree. We can finally enjoy better weather. I would like to wish all our friends, and members a HAPPY PASSOVER, and a HAPPY EASTER. Also, a reminder that this month is Prevention of Cruelty To Animals Month. So, as I have said before, if you see an animal that looks as though it has been mistreated, don’t ignore it, do something about it. Both you, and the animal (or animals) in question will be glad that you did. Now on another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues Save Our Strays, and I have been involved in lately. ROSA – One day, while I was at one of my feeding spots, a skinny, pathetic looking, semi long-haired, mixed gray and beige cat came over, and was meowing to me. I thought, no problem and I fed the cat, whom I named Rosa. She was so malnourished looking, it was so gratifying to see that she was eating, and that she did not run from me, even though she was still fearful. Anyway, I opened a can of salmon, set up a trap and in she went. I had been Hesitant to grab her by the scruff, for fear that she could slip out of my grasp, and then she would never come near me again. Rosa is an older cat, and must be built up before she can be spayed. So, she is being fostered until she is ready. Thank G-d we got Rosa, as she would never have made it on her own. Now she is going to be okay. RANDY – I was wondering why I had seen 4 or 5 new cats at one of my feeding spots. It seems that someone had moved into an apartment behind the house where I feed, and they brought several cats with them that were not neutered or spayed. They evidently threw them out of the house, since they turned up day and night eating at my spot. I was lucky enough to catch one male so far, a boy named Randy. He appeared to be friendly. After we neuter him, I will try to find him a forever home. Then I will get after the rest. I had just gotten all of the original cats spayed, and neutered. It never ends, but it will be a happy day when they are all neutered and spayed. JACKSON – Jackson was a little bit tough to deal with, but at least we got him to a veterinarian, where he was checked and completely taken care of. He will go back to my feeding spot where he will be okay. Jackson was a problem to catch because he would run every time he saw me, but after a while, and after a few tries, we finally got him in the drop trap. He was so scared, but he calmed down once he realized that we were friends, and that we were feeding him and treating him kindly. When he is ready, he will be put back at my safe feeding spot, and hopefully, he will be a happy camper. Save Our Strays pays for all veterinary medical bills on Robbin’s rescues, and all rescues that we are involved with by all our volunteer rescuers. We are proud to carry on the mission of our benefactor.
