ROBBIN’S NEST

Hello Again,

April is here, and, spring is upon us.  It has been a hard winter.  I am glad that it is behind us, and I am sure that the strays agree.  We can finally enjoy better weather.  I would like to wish all our friends, and members a HAPPY PASSOVER, and a HAPPY EASTER.  Also, a reminder that this month is Prevention of Cruelty To Animals Month.  So, as I have said before, if you see an animal that looks as though it has been mistreated, don’t ignore it, do something about it.  Both you, and the animal (or animals) in question will be glad that you did.

Now on another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues Save Our Strays, and I have been involved in lately.

MIDNIGHT –
I received a call from someone telling me that they had found an injured cat.  We immediately went to check it out, and could not find the injured feline, but we did find a female black cat that was visibly pregnant.  We trapped her on Sunday, and were going to take her to the veterinarian on Monday.  Much to everyone’s surprise, the next morning we woke up to find that she had given birth to 4 kittens, 2 black and
2 gray.  Midnight is being a good mother, but it looks like for the next six weeks she will be fostered with her babies, and then the kittens will go up for adoption and we will see about Midnight.  Well, we have six weeks to socialize her.  Meanwhile, they are all fine.

IRIS –
Sometimes things do work out.  While I was on the way to one of my feeding spots, I saw this female cat, who I named Iris, running away from a male cat that was chasing her.  I saw Iris go under a car to hide.  I immediately got my trap, set it up with salmon, walked away and waited.  Well, she went into the trap, and I brought her to a friend of mine who fosters.  We had her spayed and given shots.  Then, a few days later, the fosterer said that Iris was not friendly and that she could not continue to foster her.  Well, I put out the word, and three days later, I found a family that said Iris looked like their brother’s cat, and that they would work with her.  When they saw
her they took her, and it was like a miracle from G-d.  They only wanted her, and would not look at any other cats.  Iris is coming along fine.

TESSA –
I have been feeding 4 male cats by a supermarket every day.  Well, all of a sudden, one day a small female cat appeared.  I get so nervous when things like this happen.  I wondered where she had come from, or if she had been dumped there.  Anyway, it took a few tries, until we finally trapped her.  She would not go into the trap, until after we left.  Now, she is spayed, and we are trying to socialize Tessa and then we will see what will happen for this little Tuxedo girl.
