ROBBIN’S NEST

Hello Again.

May is here, and spring is in full bloom.  Mother nature is showing all her beautiful colors, and thank G-d, the nice weather is finally here.  This is a welcome break for us, and for the strays.  A reminder that this month, we also celebrate Be Kind To Animals week, from May 7th through May 13th.  So, remember if you see an animal that needs a helping hand, whether it be food, water or helping to find it a new home, please try to help wherever and whenever you can.  Both you, and the animal (or animals) in question will be glad that you did, and let us extend Be Kind To Animals all through the year.

Now on another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues Save Our Strays, 14and I have been involved in lately.

HARRY –
Let me tell you about Harry.  He is a character.  He lives in a yard with three other cats – females.  The woman who owns the yard is a kind person, who lets them live in her yard and feeds them, but she needed help.  The female cats would give
birth, and she would get someone to take the kittens and continue on the same way.  I explained to her that this was not good, and that all the cats had to be fixed.  She agreed, and we had all the females spayed.  The only problem was, catching Harry.  Well, we finally got him and he is living happily with his harem.  It is so nice when people work with you as a team, instead of making it difficult for the feeders and the poor strays.

MAMA –
I received a call about a pregnant cat, and immediately went to check out the situation.  It took a few tries, but I finally managed to trap Mama.  She was visibly pregnant, but we never thought that she was ready to give birth that day.  After we got Mama, a few hours later, we looked in on her and there were four little babies – 2 black, 1 grey and one Tiger.  They are being fostered, and when they are ready, they will go up for adoption.  Hopefully, that gives us enough time to socialize the Mama, so that she can get a forever home also.  Thank G-d we got her in time.

LANA –
A man that I know wanted to adopt a cat.  So, I told him about Lana, and when he saw her, he said that he would take her and would have her spayed.  Not long after that, since his veterinarian was not far from where he worked, he took Lana to work with him so that he could bring her to the veterinarian to be spayed.  As fate would have it, before he could get her to the doctor, she escaped.  We totally panicked.  This poor Tortoise Shell cat must have been terrified.  It took a day, and a half, but we finally found her.  We looked in every nook, and cranny, and all around the block.  We were full of guilt.  Where did we find Lana?  In the building, hiding two floors up.  Yes, a happy ending.  Lana was spayed, given shots and now has a forever home.
