ROBBIN’S NEST
Hello Again. May is here, and spring is in full bloom. Mother nature is showing all her beautiful colors, and thank G-d, the nice weather is finally here. This is a welcome break for us, and for the strays. A reminder that this month, we also celebrate Be Kind To Animals week, from May4th through May 10th. So, remember if you see an animal that needs a helping hand, whether it be food, water or helping to find it a new home, please try to help wherever and whenever you can. Both you, and the animal (or animals) in question will be glad that you did, and let us extend Be Kind To Animals all through the year. Now on another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues Save Our Strays, and I have been involved in lately. ONYX – A couple of months ago, I told you about a rescue that I did at one of my more difficult feeding spots. Onyx was the only female left there, and one of the cats that I was unable to trap at that time. I was at the point of giving up, and then, with the help of another rescuer, using a drop trap, we finally got her. We took her to one of our veterinarians to be checked out, spayed etc. A rescuer that I know is now fostering her, and will socialize her. When she is ready we will try to find her a forever home. If we are not able to do so, then she will be put back in the spot where I found her, which has since been made better and safer and she will be fine. GRAYSON, SMOKEY & MISTY – A while ago, I went into a Bodega, and saw three kittens that looked very sickly. I asked the owner if I could take them to a veterinarian to be treated, and he gave me permission to do so. I rushed them to one of our veterinarians. The doctor said that they had multiple problems including Upper Respiratory Infections, worms etc. They received treatment, were given medication, and then my rescuer friend and I had to take them back to the veterinarian periodically for tests etc. They have recovered, and we found forever homes for all three of them. They have been spayed/neutered and are happy and doing fine in their new homes. THE MECHANIC SHOP CREW – I Took my car to the mechanic to be fixed, and while I was there I saw a bunch of cats near the place. I went to check out the situation, and saw that there were females, males and kittens. I called my rescuer friend, and made arrangements to trap the cats. We managed to get 2 adults, I male and 1 female and took them to one of our veterinarians to be checked spayed/neutered etc. We are working on getting the rest of the cats, and having them spayed/neutered. When they are ready, they will be returned to the spot near the mechanic shop where there is a feeder, and they will be fine.
