ROBBIN’S NEST
Hello again. June is here, and I would like to start off this month, by wishing all fathers, both human and animal, a HAPPY FATHER’S DAY. Now that the warmer weather is finally here, it is more important than ever to be aware of the strays out there. In the summer it is just as hard for them to find food, and especially water as it doesn’t rain as much this time of year. Food that is thrown out, and put in the garbage is not always an option, since the heat spoils the food. Although the warmer weather is a welcome break for all of us, the strays always need our help. Now I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in /recently. SUNSHINE – Sunshine is a female Tuxedo cat, who we had no idea was pregnant. When we went to trap her to have her spayed, Sunshine gave birth to all Tuxedo kittens. The last kitten was trapped in the sack, and the other Rescuer, who was helping me, had to cut the sack to let her out. It was quite traumatic, but everything turned out well. There are 4 little ones, and we already have someone who is taking the kittens. After that, we will spay the mama, and she will go back to her feeding spot, which is one of my safe and better spots with shelter. SPENCER – This was a special story for me. Spencer was picked up a while ago. He was sick, and had stomach issues. We worked with him for many months trying to find the right food for his sensitive stomach, and built him up so much that he wound up weighing 18 pounds. He had a wonderful personality, and was about 4 years old. He was a handsome orange cat with some white on his face. Most people want kittens, but we kept advertising. Well, we received a call from a woman who lived in another state, and had just lost her cat from old age. She said that she looked at Spencer’s picture, and immediately felt a connection. She drove in that day to see him. There was an immediate connection, and to top it off, she had been feeding the cat that she just lost the same diet that we were giving Spencer. Well, they both left happy, and Spencer has his forever home with this lovely lady. LENNY – Lenny is a male cat that I have been feeding behind someone’s house, but they moved and the new people will not allow this poor older cat to eat on their property. So, instead of stressing over it, I just trapped Lenny the next day. I then brought him to the veterinarian, and found out that he was already neutered. So, I realized that he must have been someone’s cat, and had probably been thrown out. Anyway, he is safe now. He has a little cold, and he is the most affectionate and loving cat. As soon as he is ready, we will find Lenny a forever home.
