ROBBIN’S NEST

Hello again.

It’s the month of August, and I hope that you are all enjoying your summer, and staying safe.  Please remember to try to keep an eye out for the strays, and help them with dry food and water whenever and wherever you can.

On another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in lately.

SOPHIE & HER THREE KITTENS –
I saw a Tortoise Shell cat walking toward a grating in Coney Island.  I stopped, and watched her to see what she was doing.  I saw her go under the grating, and then I noticed that she had three kittens under there.  What a safe place to keep them.  Anyway, I called Save Our Strays, and they sent another rescuer to help me to get these cats.  We made plans, and decided that the important thing was to get the mother first, and then it would not be difficult to get the kittens.  Well, we went back to the spot late at night, and got the mother cat and one kitten.  We went back to get the other two kittens, and finally got them.  They are being fostered by someone who helps us.  She has three other mamas, and kittens that she is fostering.  Thank G-d for her.  So far so good.

OLIVER –
Little Oliver is a Russian Blue kitten, about 4 months old, and was running around by himself.  He is so cute.  I looked, but could not see any other felines.  I set up a trap, put some salmon in it, and Oliver went right in.  I took him to a veterinarian, where he was checked out, given shots, the usual tests and neutered.  He will soon be ready for adoption.  Oliver is a little skiddish, but he will be fine.  I am working with him.

 SHELDON –
On my way to one of my feeding spots, I saw a male cat just sitting on the sidewalk waiting.  I stopped to check out the situation.  He was hesitant at first, but then came over to sniff at my hand.  I gave him food.  He took a few bites of dry food, and then just looked at me.  I went to my car, and got a carrier and picked him up, hoping that I would not lose him because of the weakness in my hands, but I did not.  Sheldon is in a cage in my house.  Tomorrow, I will bring him to be neutered, and checked out.  Meanwhile, he is going to stay with me.  You can not leave friendly cats alone in the street.

All veterinary care is covered by Save Our Strays.
