ROBBIN’S NEST
Hello again.
It’s the month of August, and I hope that you are all enjoying your summer, and staying safe.  Please remember to try to keep an eye out for the strays, and help them with dry food and water whenever and wherever you can.
On another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in lately.

ELLA –
Ella was a female cat who was living with people that were substance abusers, and they were not caring for her properly.  So, after spaying Ella they decided to give her up, and find her a home.  A rescuer is fostering her, and she seems to be comfortable with the other cats in the fosterer’s apartment.  She is a pretty Calico, and we are sure that we will not have to worry about them remembering to feed her.  She is so content to see food in a bowl at all times.  Ella is on her way to happiness.

BRUTUS –
One Saturday night, while I was at work, I received a phone call at around 10:30 p.m. from another rescuer telling me that she was riding on the highway, and she saw a huge Pit Bull walking on the highway.  She pulled over, and called me.  I was leaving work at the time, and I drove there to meet her.  The dog looked very intimidating, but was extremely friendly and grateful.  Anyway, we made quite a few phone calls, and could not get anyone to help us.  The poor lost or stray animals really do  not have anyone.  We found a woman that would hold Brutus, and we brought him to her at 1:00 a.m.  As it turned out, it was not an ideal situation.  So, we had to move quickly to find him a home.  Well, thank G-d the other rescuer found someone who would take Brutus.  We brought him immediately to be neutered.  Brutus loves his new family, and it really was a blessing.

MRS. CHARLES –
Well, we finally cleaned up the feeding spot that had four females.  We spayed the last female, Mrs. Charles and then all of a sudden, 4 kittens popped up with a Tuxedo mother.  The thing is that July is a difficult month in which to get  appointments for TNR felines.  It is very stressful.  Anyway, Save Our Strays has managed to get appointments, and we will be spaying all these females and holding them until they are ready to go back to their feeding spots.  It is a never-ending situation.  We have to spay, and neuter more and try to find homes for the ones that we can place, that are friendly.

ROBBIN’S NEST

Hello again.

I would like to start off by wishing all of our friends, and their families a safe, and Happy Fourth of July.  Please be aware of the strays in your area, as well as your own pets, as the noise from the fireworks frightens them.

On another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in lately.

CARLEY –
One day, when I was on my way to feed at one of my spots, I spotted a female Tortoise Shell cat.  She was just sitting there meowing.  I immediately set up a trap, put food in it and she went right in.  Since my friend had an appointment to take an animal to the veterinarian to be spayed, we took Carley to that veterinarian as well.  Carley turned out to be friendly, and had obviously been thrown out.  While she was at the veterinarian’s office, she was spayed, checked out, given shots and bathed.  When she was ready, she was put up for adoption.  Within two weeks, Carley got a forever home with a nice woman, who was very warm to her and they seemed to be a perfect match.  Another happy ending, thank G-d.

MIDNIGHT –
One day, while driving up a street, I stopped for a light and what did I see, but a little Calico kitten about 4 months old.  The kitten was frightened, skinny and had bad eyes.  I got out of my car, threw a blanket over her and putt her in a carrier.  It was late, so I had to wait until morning to bring Midnight to a veterinarian.  Well, first thing in the morning I took her to the veterinarian and had her cleaned up, dewormed, given shots, antibiotics, fluids etc.  I then took her to one of the Save Our Strays rescuers, who was going to foster her and get her in shape to go up for adoption.  I will give you an update on Midnight next month.  Meanwhile, she is safe.  Thank G-d I saw her.

TERRY –
I was feeding at one of my spots, and all of a sudden in the corner, I saw a large orange and white male cat looking at me, as I was putting the food dishes down.  I did not know if he had come on his own of if he had been put there.  Either way, I set a trap.  He went right in, and I brought him to the veterinarian to be checked out.  It was obvious that he was not neutered, so we neutered him.  I named him Terry, and he was found to be in decent health.  Terry was feral, so when he was ready, I put him back at my feeding spot, since he seemed comfortable there and the other felines did not mind him.  So, Terry is now part of the pack at this feeding spot.
