ROBBIN’S NEST Hello again. Can you believe the summer is over, and it is September already? Please remember to keep an eye out for the strays in your area, and to start setting up those shelters for the strays, as the cooler weather is right around the corner. On another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that we have been involved in lately. CINDY – Cindy is a brown Tiger cat, and is such a little cutie. She is about 10 months old. I trapped her, and had her spayed. I tried very hard to socialize her for several months, but it didn’t work. It really bothers me to have to put an animal like this back in a colony. At least, years ago there were places to bring them. Now, with TNR, they put the poor feral cats back in the street and it is heartbreaking. It is something that I just cannot get used to. At least they are in my feeding spots, and will always be fed, as long as I am alive. Cindy was frightened at first, but now she waits every day, with the other felines, to eat. Hopefully, Cindy is safe. I really look forward to seeing them every day, having a good meal. It brings joy to my heart. BEATRICE & HER KIDS – While driving to one of my feeding spots, I stopped at a light, and I saw 4 kittens running in the grass. I pulled over, got out of the car and when I checked out the situation, I realized that these were 4 young kittens. I immediately called a friend of mine for help, and then set traps and the kittens went right in. My friend is fostering them, and thank G-d they are safe. We were able to trap the mother, but she is feral. The 4 babies, about 5 weeks old, will be fine when they are given lots of love. They are friendly, playful and safe. Now, we are working to find homes for them. With this heat, adoptions have been slow, but they will pick up. Meanwhile, the felines are happy, and we are overwhelmed. We named the mother Beatrice, and the kittens are Max, Aiden, Gloria and Francine – 2 Tabbys, 1 Black and 1 Tuxedo. ANTONIO – One day, I got a call from someone that I know, saying that when she came home from work at 2:00 in the morning, she saw a Tiger cat with white paws spread out in front of her door. When she opened the door, the cat ran right into her apartment. She, of course fed the cat and he slept with her all night. She called me the next morning. We named the cat Antonio. He is about 5 or 6 months old. We took him to the veterinarian where he was ANTONIO – (Cont.) checked out, given shots and neutered. We then needed to find a home for Antonio. Good news, a day later, we found out that my friend’s mother, who lives alone, is taking Antonio. He is lovable, and we have no idea where he came from, but he is safe now. All veterinary care is covered by Save Our Strays.
