Hello again.
I would like to begin by wishing all of our friends, and members a HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY. October is here, and the cooler weather will be here before long. I know that I have said this before, but please remember that now is also the time to start setting up our shelters for the strays to prepare for the cooler months ahead. We are also celebrating Halloween this month, so please remember to keep an eye out for the strays in your area, and your own pets as well. As I always say, “we must remember that we are their guardians.” On another note, I would like to tell you about more of the rescues that we have been involved in lately. BOBO – A co-worker of mine named Andrea, told me about a woman who lives in Brownsville. She said that the was moving to another location, and had a chocolate Pit Bull. Since she could not take the dog with her, she decided to put information on the dog on the internet, to try to get him adopted. It is not good when someone gives away a well-behaved Pit Bull that gets along with children, because that is when they end up in a terrible situation. So, Andrea’s son, who rescues animals occasionally, found a wonderful family that was interested in the dog. They went to Brownsville to check out the situation, and see the dog. Well, not only was the dog beautiful, but he had a great personality as well. The dog got along well with everyone, and was delicious. The family took Bobo immediately, and he is living a great, and wonderful life in Marine Park. TOMMY – It is so nice when you adopt out a cat to a good home, and then they call you two months later, and say that they want to adopt another cat to have as a playmate for the one that they have. In this case, the adoptees where the same people who had adopted Suzi, who I told about in a previous newsletter. They came to adopt 5-month old Tommy. After a week, they sent me pictures, but said that at first, Suzi did not accept Tommy. So, I told the woman to separate them. They put Tommy in a separate room so that in time, they would get each other’s scent. I also knew that, in time, they would start to play footsie under the door. Well, another week went by, and by that time, they had opened the door a little, and Suzi started to accept Tommy. So all is well, and Tommy now has a forever home. BARBIE – Barbie is a 4-month old orange kitten, who we advertised on the internet to find him a home. At first, we did not get a response, but then after a while, we began to see responses. I did not have a good feeling about a few of them, but then one lady came along, who was lovely and caring. She stayed with Barbie a while, and really showed love and an interest in her. Barbie is now the only feline in her house. The lady keeps in touch, and Barbie has a good home forever. Now this was in September, when things seem to slow down. It is a little frightening this time of year, since it gets cold. All we can do is hope, and pray.
