ROBBIN’S NEST Hello again. I would like to begin by wishing all of our readers a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. November is here, and the cooler weather has started. If you haven’t set up your shelters for the strays, to prepare for the cooler months ahead, now is the time. We must always remember that “we are their guardians.” On another note, I would like to tell you about more of the rescues that we have been involved in lately. SPANKEY – One night, when I got home, I saw a small Tabby Kitten that looked to be about 3 months old in the entrance to my building. I immediately picked it up, put it in a cloth bag and held it to my chest. I went into my apartment, and set up a cage with food, water and litter. The first thing next morning, I took Spankey to a veterinarian to be checked out. He had to be built up a little, and then I would have him neutered. Spankey was extremely friendly, and confident, which made him very adoptable. Well, when Spankey was ready, he was neutered and given shots. He had a heck of a personality, and was adopted by my co-worker’s mother. He has a wonderful home, where I know that he is happy, and I keep in touch. It was a stress-free adoption. STORMY – One day, after I got to work and I parked my car, while walking to my workplace I looked to the right, and saw a 7 week old Tabby kitten on the side of an Assisted Living place, just sitting there. I went back to my car, and got a trap, put food in it and waited for the kitten to come down into the trap. I called work to let them know that I might be a little late. Well, Stormy, that is what I called him because it was raining a little, came down and went into the trap. I brought Stormy to my workplace, and the girl that I work with took him home, put him in a cage and called a friend whose cat had recently passed away to see if he would be interested in taking Stormy. Well, great news! He came over, fell in love with Stormy and took him. Stormy now has a wonderful new forever home. HONEY – I received a call from a woman telling me that there was a female cat by her house, and she had been feeding it. My friend, and I went to Bay Ridge to check out the situation. After going there twice, we were finally able to trap Honey, a cute Tuxedo cat. She turned out to be very mellow. We then brought Honey to the veterinarian, and had her checked out spayed and given shots. We are now looking for a forever home for her. She is about 2 years old, and I have no idea about her background, but meanwhile she is safe, being fostered and will eventually get a good home. We will keep you posted. It thrills my heart to know that Honey is safe. I only wish that we could save them all – so heartbreaking.
