ROBBIN’S NEST
Hello again. The Holidays are here, and I would like to begin by wishing all of our readers a Joyous Holiday Season. May you, and your families have joy, and happiness. The cold weather is upon us, and I hope that you all have your shelters ready to protect the strays from the elements. As always, we are their guardians. I can’t say this often enough. Now, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in lately. HERBIE – One day, when I arrived at one of my feeding spots, all of a sudden I saw mackerel, and un-neutred, male feline looking up at me. He had the longest whiskers I have ever seen. He was so handsome. I got a carrier out of my car, set it up and put food in it and he went right in. By the time you read this, he will have seen a veterinarian to be checked out, and neutered. He really is a very handsome cat. He is under a year old, and I know that we will get him a good, forever home. Meanwhile, he is safe and in a big cage in my house. RANDI – Randy was alone, and pacing the streets when I found her. We got a call from someone telling us about Randi, and we went over and picked her up. Randy is very sweet, and we trapped her just in time. She is a beautiful tabby, and un-spayed. We took her to a veterinarian, and had her spayed, given shots and all the medical care that she needed. One of the Save Our Strays volunteer rescuers will foster her. Randi has a good disposition, and we hope that someone would be interested in her. Miracle - two days later, Randi was found a forever home with a mother, and son in Queens. We did this through word of mouth, and it worked. She is walking around her new forever home comfortably, and is happy. FRANNIE – Frannie is a 9 to 12 month old cat that was found at one of my feeding spots. She has the sweetest, and most unbelievable personality that you can imagine from a cat that has been on the street. She stayed patiently in the arms of a rescuer that I work with for 20 minutes, while I went to get a carrier. We then took Frannie to the veterinarian immediately. The doctor’s staff could not get over how sweet Frannie was, even when they shaved her stomach to see if she had been spayed. They determined that she had not been spayed, so she was left at the veterinarian’s office to do all the procedures medically needed. One of the veterinary techs seemed interested in her, so hopefully, when she is ready, they will give her a forever home. All medical procedures are paid for by Save Our Strays. We have funds for this, from the bequest that we have told you about. Financial help is desperately needed for food, which cannot be paid for from the Trust. The funds to buy cat food for the colonies comes from the Administrative Fund. Administrative costs are going up, and if we can’t pay our bills, we cannot function. Please consider a donation so that we can continue to help the strays. Thank you. Robbin
