SOUTH CAROLINA RESCUE
Onyx and Her Little Gems Sweet Onyx was somebody’s baby once. How she wound up on the streets alone, with four tiny babies in tow, is a question we wish we could ask her. Onyx is a petite girl, with what appears to be an old injury, or lens scarring, to her left eye. Onyx was saved last week. She, and her kittens were being harassed and harmed by a group of kids with nothing better to do than to pick on something small, and defenseless. A young man charged into the group, scooped the babies up into his bookbag and put momma Onyx into his hoodie, and took off with them. We were contacted by this young hero’s Grandmom, and agreed to accept Onyx and her babies into safety. Young momma is likely only about a year old, her babies are approximately 4 weeks. An appointment is set to have Onyx tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and Leukemia Virus and appropriate vaccines for a nursing mom. Vaccine protocols will begin when the kittens are old enough to start their vetting process. Spays, and neuters will be completed and this little family will begin to interview for forever homes. For now, Onyx and her kittens are comfortable in a warm, safe foster home and will get the love and attention they need. Save Our Strays remains committed to helping, until they all have homes.
