SOUTH CAROLINA RESCUE Princess and Her Retinue Princess was on the streets, hiding and digging under a porch to try to find a safe place to have her babies. A concerned homeowner reached out for help on March 31, and through the grass roots grapevines, found Save Our Strays. Calling all hands-on deck, a temporary safe place was secured and reserved at one of our trusted vet clinics. Princess was lured in with the promise of food, and whisked off to the vet clinic for exam, flea treatment, testing, and safe boarding until a long-term solution could be found. Princess was found to be a healthy girl, approximately two years old, round as melon with her pregnancy and would very likely be having her babies within a few weeks. It’s kitten season all over the country, but in the South it doesn’t let up for long. Our rescue partners are slammed, and our fosters are overwhelmed. Through our good relationship with other working rescues, we were able to find and take advantage of, a sudden opening and availability with a well-established local rescue in York, South Carolina, which has a sterling reputation. Richardson’s Rescue was able to make space to accept Princess, and her unborn babies within their system. They will see her through her delivery, and ensure that she and her “babies” all have safety nets under them for the rest of their lives. Princess safely delivered 5 babies on April 20th. Welcome babies, to a safe world. Special thanks to Richardson’s Rescue for their partnership, and willingness to step up to assist us.
