WAGGIN TAILS OCTOBER 2026(HOLIDAY NEWSLETTER)
ADOPT A SHELTER MONTH
COLUMBUS DAY
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Dear Friends and Members:
We are again in the Holiday Season. The year passes so
quickly. There are so many worthy organizations that we must
compete with, that I start early. There is such a great need for
funds. This summer, with inflation so high, donations are
unfortunately, considerably down. The stores are showing
Christmas, and Hanukkah and it is not even Halloween. We are
hoping that you might make a Holiday Donation early. It will
still be a tax-deductible contribution. Since the stores are saying
that it is gift time, please put us on your list in the name of all
the animals that we help.
There are many religions, and cultures that celebrate
Holidays this time of year, besides Christmas and Hanukkah.
So, from Save our Strays and the strays, may we wish you one
and all a Happy, Healthy Holiday Season.
This newsletter goes out to everyone on our mailing list.
Adam, Eve and Sponsor-A-Stray contributors, as well as our
yearly donators. We hope that those of you who are not Adam,
Eve or Sponsor-A-Stray members, would hopefully, join our
programs. These pledges let us know just what we can, and
cannot do. We help the strays through your donations. We are
YOU. We have enclosed a contribution envelope for your
convenience, and an Adam, Eve and Sponsor-A-Stray member
form.
We are still extremely active in New York, and Florida
and we are growing in our work in South and North Carolina.
We try to help anyone who has reached out to us for advice.
Medical help, and food depends on funds available.
As many of you know, we received a bequest from the
Estate of Janet Salz. At the time in 2015, it was considered to be
a large amount, and we are grateful and thankful for this gift.
As large as it is, $100,000, divided by 12 = $8,3333.33 a month.
The problem is that the veterinarians, because of the economy
and their expenses, charge us 25% or much higher. We don’t
treat an animal as a price tag. If we can save a life, and pay
$700, we pay for it. Many animals come to us in bad condition.
We take into consideration age and outcome, do we have a place
to hold the animal during treatment, is it adoptable or if not,
after treatment they have a colony with "eyes” on them through
the Rescuers and Feeders. The person who rescues them,
usually provides the holding home. We do not have any facilities
to do this.
If you as a person go to a doctor without Insurance, it is
very costly. The only Insurance the strays have IS YOU. It
sounds like a great deal of money, but it can equal 10-15 strays
a month, depending on veterinary costs. Please help us continue
to treat our Furbabies. The more donations we get, the more
strays we can help.
About our Rescuers:
We started as a grass roots organization 58 years ago,
and we are still a grass roots organization. What does this
mean? It means that we are still helping Rescuers that spent all
their own funds to help the strays. We supplement them. They
watch the colonies, and bring the sick, and hurt ones to our
veterinarians, the cost of which we cover. They couldn’t afford
to take care of the strays to the extent that they do without YOU
our contributors, and Save Our Strays being here. We are a
team, and in order for us to stay here we need YOU.
Please read our Rescue Stories. We juggle our budget as
much as we can. Sometimes go over our allotted funds, and we
try to adjust for the needs of the strays. Everything depends on
the needs of the strays. We spend every dollar on the strays. No
Director receives any compensation. Please help us to continue
to help the strays.
Have a wonderful, Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.
Each stray that is helped is a blessing, for all of us and the
strays.
