Opening Thought August 2026. INTERNATIONAL HOMELESS ANIMALS DAY
Dear Friends and Members:
Summer heat is at its highest, unless you live in the
mountains.
Many strays lose their lives to Heat Stroke. Please leave,
at least water, and if you can, dry food. At least the water
hydrates, and the dry food gives some nourishment.
When we live in the city, we can’t understate the
hardships that the strays go through. We see it every day, and it
is a terrible thing.
I now live in the South. We have many strays here also.
Along with the strays, we have horrible conditions where dogs
are chained up in the heat, and winter cold with no relief. We
help where we can, through Rescuers and other organizations.
The wildlife doesn’t have it any easier. I have deer that
visit my bird feed stand. I am told that is like candy for them. I
have a pregnant doe that comes as well. I worry for her, since
we also have cayotes. Moving here has been an eye opener to
the hardships of all animals.
There are some organizations that help. We need to
recruit more people into the Humane movement. The animals,
all species, need us.
We will continue to help the strays, as long as we are
here, and financially able. You are the ones that keep us here.
Without your donations, there would be no Save Our Strays. As
they say in the South, you are a true blessing. Take care of
yourself, and have a good rest of the summer.
