This is Penny

Isn’t she cute? Penny is a miracle cat! She was found, totally by accident, while I was

searching for another cat that was missing from the colony. I came across Penny at a car dealership.  I left

her some food, and I realized that she was pregnant. Totally unexpected. I trapped her, and I brought her

home, hoping and praying that she was friendly and not wild. I had decided to let her have the babies,

because she was very pregnant. At first, she was eating and then she stopped eating completely for five

days in a row. I was beside myself. How could a pregnant cat not eat? I took her to the vet immediately,

thanks to Save Our Strays. They stepped in, and helped this poor cat, who was having a bad pregnancy.

The doctor said that we had to abort the babies because they were overdue, and they were not coming out.

The doctor said it was either the baby’s lives or her life.  I was devastated. I told him to do whatever he

could to save her. He wasn’t sure if she would make it through the operation. Thankfully, she did, but

not without serious recovery. Just because she had the surgery, didn’t mean that she was out of the

woods, as far as recovering.  She was on IV fluids almost 2 weeks, along with me trying to get her to eat

with a syringe. She did not want to eat, and did not want to live. I did not want to give up on her, but

after two weeks, I figured that I had to make a decision whether to put her down or keep going. Even

with appetite medication, she still would not eat. I had made the decision to put her down, and then,

thank G-d, she made a turnaround two days before the last day. She started getting interested in eating.

Little by little, every day she was getting stronger, thanks to Save Our Strays. They helped me to get

through this. She has made a full recovery. As you can see by the pictures, her before and after, it’s just a

miracle that she pulled through. It goes to show you that when it’s not your time, it’s not your time. It

turns out that she was not a feral cat at all. How in the world did she end up at a car dealership? I just

don’t know. A lot of times when people dump their animals in all kinds of strange places, they usually

have some kind of bad behavior like biting, scratching furniture, etc. This cat is the perfect cat. She is

not only a lap cat, but she doesn’t touch the furniture, and she is the sweetest lover. She wants to be close

to humans, and it is amazing with everything that she went through, that she has stayed sweet. She will

be up for adoption as of June 28, 2026. I am sure she will be adopted quickly, and that she will find her

loving forever home and they will love her so much. I’m just so happy, and so thrilled thanks to Save

Our Strays, and everyone that gave me support through this that she will have a bright future ahead of her.
