Meet Cooper!!

He was found behind an elderly man’s house. Originally there were two

kittens, but unfortunately, the sibling did not make it. He was loaded with mange

and just very unhealthy. Thanks to Save Our Strays for stepping in, and helping to

get this baby back on track. He received Ivermectin, and was neutered and all his

shots were done. Cooper was saved from a life of living a struggle outdoors, with

no one to care for him and love him. He has been adopted by a lovely single girl

that has fallen in love with him. A happy ending for Cooper. Just a reminder that

this is kitten season right now, and if you do see a kitten in your backyard, it’s

always best to rescue them at five weeks old. That’s when you can pull them away

from the mother. If they get older than that, they’re already wild. Five weeks old

is the magic number to socialize them, and get them up for adoption at 8 weeks

old. Five weeks old is when they start eating food on their own, and most of the

rescues will take them at eight weeks old. That’s when they’re old enough to have

their surgeries, so that they can go up for adoption. If we waited for this baby to be

eight weeks old before he was rescued, it would have been very difficult to

socialize him because at eight weeks old, he would already be a wild, feral cat.

Hissing, biting, not cooperating at all. So please, if you see kittens in your

backyard, five weeks is the magic number. Enjoy your summer.
