ROBBIN’S NEST

Hello again.

The Holidays are here, and I would like to begin by wishing all of our readers a Joyous Holiday Season.  May you, and your families have joy, and happiness.

The cold weather is upon us, and I hope that you all have your shelters ready to protect the strays from the elements.  As always, we are their guardians.  I can’t say this often enough.

Now, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in lately.

CASPER –

At one of my feeding spots, some people were telling me about a beautiful all-white cat, with no tail, that had been thrown out by someone in the area.  Some of these people did try to catch the cat, but they could not.  I told a rescuer friend of mine about

the cat, and one day, while she and I were in Coney Island, I spotted the cat.  We took out a trap, and he went right.  He was very skinny, so he must have been very hungry.  Of course, Casper was scared.  We took him to one of our veterinarians, and he was checked

out, given shots etc.  We waited until he was built up to have him neutered.  My rescuer friend fostered the cat, and after a few months, a middle-aged couple came to adopt a cat, but when they saw Casper, they fell in love with him and adopted him right then, and there.  So far everything is going well in his new forever home, and he is doing fine.

PIXIE AND ARNOLD –

I Found Pixie at one of my spots.  A homeless man was holding her, waiting for me, knowing that I feed every day at the same time.  When I got to my spot, he told me that a woman from a nearby apartment building came, and threw the cat out on the street.  That is why he was holding Pixie, a cute Calico, for me.  I fed Pixie right away, and then put her in a carrier in my car and took her to a friend to see if she could hold her, which she agreed to do.  The next day, my friend and I took Pixie to one of our veterinarians to have her checked out, spayed etc.  She stayed in my friend’s home during her recover time, but Pixie became very attached to one of the other kittens, named Arnold that my friend was holding.  As a result, when we put her up for adoption, a middle-aged women came forward looking to adopt a cat because she had just lost her previous cat.  We told her about Pixie, and Arnold being so attached to each other, and she decided to adopt both of them.  Pixie, and Arnold are doing fine in their new forever home.  Arnold is still having a bit of trouble adjusting, but it has only been two weeks, so he will come around eventually.

CARLOS –

Carlos was found under the Boardwalk in Brighton.  He was about 5 months old, and all black.  He was feral so he needed to be socialized.  My rescuer friend fostered him, and we worked with him, and he came around beautifully.  About a month later, someone called, who had adopted a black cat from my friend a few years earlier, and wanted to adopted another cat as a companion to hers.  She adopted Carlos.  The two cats are doing fine, and Carlos is happy in his new forever home.
