ROBBIN’S NEST

Hello again.

January – a new year.  As you get older, time flies faster.  I would like to start off this month by wishing all of our friends, and members a Happy, and Healthy New Year.  Winter is now in full swing, and I hope that everyone has their shelters up, and working for the strays, to keep them protected from the elements.  Please remember to stock them with dry food, and water.

On another note, I would like to tell you about some of the rescues that I have been involved in lately.

WHISPER –

A few months ago, some people approached me, and told me that there was a beautiful white cat walking around Coney Island, and no one had been able to catch it.  My rescuer friend, and I went to check the situation out. When we saw the cat, we noticed that he was very skinny, and he was not interested in the food we offered him.  It took a while for us to get him because we did not always see him, and at first, he would not go into the trap.  We had to use a drop trap to get him.  We finally got him, and brought him to a Save Our Strays veterinarian the next day.  The doctors found that he had a sensitive stomach, and had to be built up.  He was fostered for months, and then finally last week Whisper was adopted by a nice couple, who will give him the love and attention that he needs.  So  far, he is doing well, and has a forever home.

MICKIE & JERRY –

A rescuer that I know, called me to tell me that a Black and White male cat followed her into her building.  She took him upstairs, and put him in a crate.  He is under a year old.  She called me to ask if we to get him to a veterinarian.  The cat was very friendly.  Two days later, another cat also under a year old and friendly followed her into her building.  So, she took him upstairs to her apartment as well.  So, now both of them needed to be taken to the veterinarian to be checked, neutered etc.

We had them taken care of, and now we are searching for a good home for them, either together or separate.  Meanwhile, they are safe and happy and I will keep you updated on their progress.

MUFFIN –

About a week, and a half later, I received another call from the same rescuer who told me about Mickie and Jerry, telling me that her superintendent called her to say that there was newborn kitten in the back of the building.  The kitten was just lying there, to he picked it up, and gave to the rescuer who then gave it to me.  I gave the kitten to a foster that I work with, and she and her mother will take care of the kitten.  The kitten is now 5½ weeks old, and is doing well.  Eventually, if everything continues to remain fine, we will either find it a good home or the foster will keep it.
