Robbin's Nest - October 2026
Hello again.
I would like to begin by wishing all of our friends, and members a HAPPY
COLUMBUS DAY. It’s the month of October, and the cooler weather will be here
before long. I know that I have said this before, but please remember that now is also
the time to start setting up your shelters for the strays, and prepare for the cooler
months ahead. We are also celebrating Halloween this month, so please remember to
keep an eye out for the strays in your area, and your own pets as well. Watch out for
black cats especially, as they are targeted this time of year. As I always say, “we must
remember that we are their guardians.”
On another note, I would like to tell you about more of the rescues that we have
been involved in lately.
SPARKLE –
Sparkle is a female Tortoise Shell cat, that no one would think we could catch.
Two weeks ago, we finally caught her. We took her to one of our veterinarians to be
checked, spayed etc, and now we are trying to socialize her, but she is still frightened.
She is not feral, just scared. We don’t know her background, but she was found in a
dirty lot. She had 5 kittens, which we already trapped, and they were vet checked, and
put into foster homes of rescuers who help each other out as best they can.
Meanwhile, their mother Sparkle is getting a little calmer every day, and I will keep
you updated on what happens to her. This was really one of the most difficult rescues
that I had to do.
MASON –
Mason is a 3½ month old kitten that I found under a bush near one of my spots.
I surmised that someone must have put him there. He looked frightened. I set up a
baby trap, and he went right in. We took him right to one of our veterinarians to be
checked
out, and the doctor said that he appeared to be okay. He is now in a foster home,
being built up and waiting to be old enough to be neutered. After that, we will find
him a forever home.
FELIX –
Felix was found under the Boardwalk, and is about 4 months old. I trapped
him, and took him to one of our veterinarians to be checked etc. After that he was
taken care of by a foster. Three weeks later, an older man called me to say that he
wanted to adopt a cat because his cat had recently passed away. At first, he wanted a
Tiger cat, but when he came over, and saw Felix he fell in love with him and adopted
him. The man took Felix home, and in a matter of two days, he sent us pictures of
Felix, showing how happy, and adjusted he had become. So, Felix now has a forever
home, and is happy and well cared for.
